We've stayed at the hotel several times and always been happy. This time we unfortunately had to stay in one of its 'apartments'. We could live with facing reminders of previous guests (empty bottle and can and a cap) and no shampoo in the shower (just a bottle of body wash), but far worse were the beds. Almost unbelieveably they were iron frames and even the slightest movement resulted in loud creaking noises, so we got very little sleep that night. Even if grossly overpriced (I've just stayed two nights on a Scandic hotel in Gothenburg for approximately the same price), we may return to Örnen later, but NEVER to their 'apartments'. 

Disappointing

We had a lovely stay at the charming Örnen hotel. A cosy, beautiful room, styled in a country house style, a peaceful and homely coffee lounge to relax, a delicious breakfast and a friendly host - this is absolutely a hotel we will stay at again.

Charming and friendly hotel

Small family owned hotel situated central in Torsby. Building has been a private home before it was re-build to hotel and therefore there are quite a few rooms.
Breakfast is typical Swedish breakfast; staff & owners are nice.
Though - avoid booking this hotel during Friday- Saturday because there is terrible noice from the cars parking nearby and playing music until 5 in the morning. I quarantee you won't sleep. At least try to get a room on the backside of the hotel.

Small family owned hotel

Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful owners! They give you tips for all the restaurants arrojnd and explain everything that’s worth seeing in the area. The breakfast was really good and hotel very tidy and cosy. Definitely recommend staying here!

Very recommendable!

Very nice little hotel with very comfortable beds and a nice Boutique on the first floor. Very good service and friendly staff. Will stay here again if I'm stopping over in Torsby. The fasade could need some TLC, but the atmosphere and soul of this little family hotel makes it a 5 star experience.

Cozy hotel with good atmosphere

Very nice, old-fashioned (in the best meaning of the word) hotel in the middle of town, with a most friendly and helpful owner. Cosy and comfortable rooms, free coffee- and teamaking facilities in small library lounge, together with microwave oven and fridge for the guests' use. Delicious breakfast buffet and outdoor seating in quiet and charming backyard. Free parking and WiFi. Definitely the hotel to go for if you're visiting Torsby.

THE place to stay in Torsby

Hotel Ornen is a fantastic hotel in a city mostly known by its Ski tunnel, forests and hunting areas. The staff is great and the atmosphere is classic, cozy and unique. Tasteful decoration and breakfast, not far from the Central station and other amenities.
If you are interested in Swedish culture and at the same time, wish to be closer to the Norwegian borders, this is the place. I love Torsby and recommend this city and hotel to my dearest friends. Expect the unexpect in this calm and ydillic destination. Once I woke up at 06 am and was delighted by the visit of a moose family eating the grass in the wild garden.

Torsby is the place to be in the middle of nowhere in Sweden!

Do you like some peace - do not hesitate to visit the province of Värmland in central Sweden. Lakes, forrests and mountains in abundance and small countryside towns with people harsh, still very friendly, speaking a dialect that even Swedes have some difficulties to understand. 

Personal reasons forced me to Torsby during 5 days. Situated in northern Värmland the town has its name from the old god Thor. Late one evening I had to find a hotel and I was informed of Örnen, Swedish for The Eagle. I had no difficulty to get a room at this late hour.
This hotel is a very small one - seven rooms and some small apartments. The building was constructed in 1905 and is situated near the main square where you can find quite a number of restaurants and pubs. The hostess living in the building was very helpful and you got a feeling of being an honored guest. My room was not big but had an old-fashioned charm. The bed was definitely above ordinary hotel standard, there was a flat-screen TV and a bath-room with a very nice shower-cabin. Certainly no luxury but all was very fresh and clean. It was very quiet and no sounds disturbed me during the 5 nights I spent there. 
Breakfast was included in the room`s price and there was no reason to complain - nothing luxurious but good and solid. The hotel is old-fashioned with a countryside style but very fresh and clean well worth its price SEK 895 or USD 140 for a one person room.
The only thing to complain about was the stairs to the second floor where the 7 rooms are situated, however I was told there are 2 ground apartments. And if you love TV - go elsewhere - only 4 or 5 Swedish and Norwegian channels. To me these were minor inconveniences - I can still walk, and I had other things to do than watching TV. But there is free wireless internet according to the hotel`s homepage.
So in summary I enjoyed very much this small old-fashioned hotel with a very personal athosphere and if so I will gladly return.
