This people ruined my wedding which was held on 23rd of August 2018, Extremely bad management. We have paid full payment before the wedding. But when we went to the 22nd the ceiling wasn't painted (they promised all would finished before the wedding) . We booked for 230 guests and they have only ordered 175 chairs. We fought with  them for other 30 chairs and 3 tables. The buffet was not chosen menu by us. As they said their chef has left from the office because of a fight with the manager (Mr. Deen). The deserts are not which we chosen. There were no ice cream even. The service was null, Waiters doesn't properly served the welcome drink to the guest. I hate this place and never recommend for anyone

Terrible place, Extremely bad service

At arrival, felt very comforting. The atmosphere is very tranquil given the fact that not much of a crowd even on a Sunday. I don't want to generalize so lets say the rooms we stayed are really disappointing. Doors are a mess, the mattress was soggy and overall; the room was not clean at all. But being 'ready for anything guys', we didn't made a fuzz. 

The pool was kinda ok. Average in size. Very clean. 

The garden was filled with locals who were having a Sunday booze session. Very shady with palm trees and facing the indian ocean. Nice site. Me think they should do something about the lawn since the dusty gravel wouldn't be appealing. At least the cheapest grass would do the trick.

Service was another disappointment. They take long time to respond. Be careful about your bill also because they may add things you never ordered. Lucky for us, one of the guys has a photographic memory. 

Food was great but if you are not in the spicy side, better inform when placing the order since they have a huge tendency to cover food with pepper. We loved it but I m sure many people won't. Variety was also ok. They had from Sri Lankan cuisine to Chinese and continental. Again, keep a track on what you order.

Day outing with buddies

I'm going to be as positive as I can here. I chose this hotel because they were willing to accept my Sri Lankan visitor friends. I like the fact that I could have visitors in my room. I had tried to check in at the Mermaid Hotel, who I'm afraid are so full of themselves, and I suppose it's beneath them to have a local Sri Lankan villager on their grounds. I won't go into that story... It was refreshing to arrive at Shalimar with no questions asked. But the conditions of the rooms are poor. They look passable on the surface but once one settles in, it becomes apparent there is no maintenance. The entry door doesn't really lock--not without a struggle--so half the time just left it unlocked, even when out of the room. Balcony, bathroom doors, don't really work, half falling off. Only HOT, near boiling water in the bathroom--guess water tank is exposed to the sun. So pretty much impossible to shower without scalding oneself. There are other things too, but I do prefer to extol the one positive--that there is no discrimination here. After a couple of days I started to get used to the failings.
