Sanjis The Seaside Cabanas

There are many expensive hotels on the pristine beaches in Sri Lanka. Without a doubt many provide excellent service and amenities. Sanjis is a small venture. A few, sparsely but comfortably appointed rooms right on the beach that is breathtakingly beautiful, with a small staff including the owner who is always available and helpful. Everything is a bit rustic, but that is also the charm. There are no crowds, no noise except from the occasional village dog. Staff is just incredibly hospitable, and make sure they serve all your needs with their utmost best. Food- whether it's cooked in the western style(s) or Sri Lankan, is out of this world. When you wake up, the beach is about 50-100 ft away, and there are very few people or none. A little later village fishermen gather, and for those who believe in experiencing culture fully, there is the opportunity to haul the net with the others and receive some of the catch, that the kitchen staff will cook for you. They will order anything else you would like, any local fruits, lobsters from a nearby fish market, coconut Toddy if you ask for it. The secret to happiness in this small piece of paradise is not just it's location but the staff, their attention to your needs and their willingness to serve you. Their website is accurate. You get what you see, unlike many other places here. I applaud the owner for his honesty and sincerity. Many other small hotels in Sri Lanka (especially Heritage, Anuradhapura) can learn from him.
