Booked 2 nights here and when I arrived the room was located at the side of the family home. The room was very dark due to lack of natural light and smelt musty. The light switch by the door didn't work so had to turn on main light from switch at the back of room. The plug sockets also didn't work and I was advised to use the plug outside the room (garage area..told would be safe). I regrettably opened the bathroom door and a swarm of mosquitoes flew at me a cockroach was running up the wall. This was all in the day so I can only imagine the night. I immediately decided not to stay but was told that I had to at least pay for 1 night even though I was now booking somewhere else. They were extremely aggressive and demanding and wouldn't allow me to leave without paying as it was late in the day. Don't be tricked by the photos you couldn't be paid to stay there, worse place I've seen in the 3 weeks I've been in Sri Lanka!

Avoid unless desperate!!

One of the best family places in Mirissa. Near the ocean, quiet place. A lot of surfing spots, nice beaches, snorkeling places around. Also a big balcony to have a rest in the best evenings I ever had.

Good House!

Very nice guest house and gorgeous family. 5 min walk to the beach. The breakfast was amazing. Western was standard but Ima made me her delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and even pancakes the other day. 
The room was small but quiet and tidy with a new bathroom and a huge comfortable bed. 
Really enjoyed my 4 nights stay.

Nice guesthouse close to the beach

We have loved our time at the Kavindi guest house we don't want to leave - the family are just so lovely - fresh juice on arrival and a warm welcome - the rooms are very clean and bathroom excellent! Wifi also exceptional! Only a 5 minute walk to the beach. They cooked us dinner also one night which was fabulous - traditional Sri Lankan food. Highly recommend. 

Only meant to stay 3 nights we've stayed double!

We came across Kavindi by chance when we got off the bus from Galle. The room and attached bathroom were emaculate. There is a nice open veranda area on the first floor which all guests can use. The friendly, welcoming family live in the accommodation too but were discrete though helpful when required. We were invited to a family party during our stay which we though was a lovely touch. Less than 5 minutes walk to the beach but bring a torch if you are coming back from the beach bars at night.

Lovely Family Run Guest House

We had an upstairs room with our own bathroom, which had great views of the surrounding area. Ima and Chamil were very hospitable and friendly.  Ima is an excellent cook and we loved the Sri Lankan food that was cooked for us. Coconut rotis, coconut Sambal, Dahl curry and devilled calamari were so delicious! We stayed for 2 weeks in November 2015. We will definitely be returning to Kavindi next year. We loved our stay at Kavindi.
