I booked a room in this “resort” for one night. I had to work in Galle Fort so the location of this place was perfect for me. And so was the price.

I paid for the room but when I informed the owner I would be back after 10pm, he said this would not be possible. I left some of my personal items in the room and went to work. I came back at 5pm and the owner told me I had no room and there was no property of mine there. He refused to give me back my stuff.

Only after I filed a complaint with the police, my property was returned. To the police he said I was a drug user (???) and thats why he refused me. I was almost taken into custody for these lies.

I would never advise anybody to go to this place, unless if you like to get ripped off, have your items stolen and want to spend half a day in a police office.

Stay away from these thieves

I should have listened to the previous review! The only good thing about this place is the location. But it’s not worth it for the quality of this place and the owner. He’s awful! He’s rude and charges for whatever he wants. He ended up paying a lot more than what we booked. It’s a family scam. I don’t even know where the name ‘resort’ comes from. It’s a very, very basic hostel wth questionable sheets. Stay away from this place. I’m not surprised its reviews aren’t good at all.

We were there for one night booked in booking.com. The possition is good but the owners are the opposite of sri lanka people. No smyle any time. When we entered they ask fo the money before to leave the luggage. They dont give you bill. And the prace in booking you have to add 26% for taxes!!! Crazy. The room if like a hoven. The wifi only works some hours. And you hove to comeback to the guesthouse before 10pm if not you are out!! 

Also they cancel the book in booking as we would not been there... crazy.

Millenium Rest & Gems is very much what it says on the tin, and for that it's great value for money.  I'm not quite sure what some people are expecting when paying around £11 per night but I think they need to get a grip!

Galle is expensive so to find an okay room right in the middle of Galle Fort for this sort of money is, I think, quite rare. Don't expect any fancy frills but the shower worked, there was hot water and the bed was fine

Something we found quite bizarre is that they turn the Wifi on and off at certain times of the day but frankly, you won't want to do much more than sleep in the room anyway. The family that run the rooms are all very friendly and polite and were helpful whenever we had questions.

We extended our stay by two nights, at which point they changed our towels and made up the room, and for a budget conscious traveller I would highly recommend.

Really good value for money.

This is a VERY basic room hotel. The owner locks the doors at 10pm... we aren't night people so we don't care but don't recall seeing anything about that when booking, nor were we told when we checked in. The towels are very small, and you are provided with a tiny bar of soap. Wifi is terrible. The only good thing about this place was the location. Glad we only stayed one night for the price we payed. Would not recommend this place.
