Ekonomy Hotel Yeosu

The room was smallish and it didn't have a desk. But other than that, it had all the fixtures (which looked new) that I expected for its price category, and they were in good working order. The hotel does not have a lift, but it does warn you about that at the time of booking. In any case, after being given a 4th floor room, the clerk (who spoke English well) offered to help me with my luggage (I declined since I could manage on my own). For its price category, the following items on my checklist were provided: precise temperature control, 2 power points, wifi, good lighting, drinking water, fridge, soap and shampoo. The wifi signal was strong; all fixtures looked new and were in good working order. Water pressure was good; hot water came through without much waiting, drainage was good. There was a flatscreen TV, but it seemed only to have (very many) local channels, I couldn't find any international news channels. The room was very clean, as were the towels, though they were a little thin. The bed was somewhat hard; it didn't matter to me though it may matter to some guests. The front desk closes at 11pm, so special arrangements may be needed if you are arriving late. Location-wise, the hotel is a 800m walk (on the flat) from Yeosu-expo railway station, passing through buildings left over from when Yeosu hosted the World Expo in 2012, and which have since become deserted hulks. The route is poorly signed, and when you reach the road junctions, they're a confusing maze. It was probably a matter of luck that I managed to make my way directly to the hotel just without getting lost, and just as it was getting dark. It may be helpful for the hotel to state its GPS location (34.746336, 127.743890) on its booking confirmation. From the hotel, it is a nice stroll to the old town centre (southwest of hotel) and to Odongdo island (southeast of hotel). For meals, you'd probably have to walk to the town centre 1 km away, since the area around the hotel is rather quiet. Overall, for the price I had, Ekonomy Hotel gave very good value in many ways.
