This place is a little older but still stylish. It's just me but real comfy. Bed is soft and relaxing. Staff is super friendly and ready to assist. This hotel is in the middle of what's happening. So restaurants is with in walking distance and a taxi away if you want to explore further. If not a train station is near.

Cool place to chill out

The building from the outside is unusual for Korea, a multi-story red brick house. As you enter, you really think you entered the wrong door.  Because all you see is stuff that you normally see on a flee market or maybe even worse.  You really have to look hard to find the reception at the end of the hall way.  The entire hotel, every corner is full of these cheap artifacts from China - and they are all for sale!
The room had a large king size bed plus a single bed, large room.  Very hot, no possibility to reduce temperature and no window that one can open - it simply did not have any windos!!!
Modern bathroom with free-standing tub, Japanese style toilet and shower.  However, the shower was placed outside the tub and the water flows directly into the room.  After the shower you get wet feet if you want to use the toilet.
They do provide breakfast.  And you can even get eggs - if you make them yourself!!! The hotel provides the electric stove, the pan and the eggs, and then it is you.

Is it a hotel or a flee market or a junk yard?

Stay two nights (1st-3rd Oct) at Benikea Hotel. The location is away from Gwangju old historical city center which can be reached by one of the metro train located near the hotel. The hotel room are big but facilities are getting old with noisy air condition and difficult to operate old bath tub. Breakfast food choices are very limited and simple.

Visit to Gwangju to test Grundfos pumps.

I can't believe some people have given good reviews of this hotel. 
Have they slept in A ROOM WITHOUT WINDOWS? I did. 
Have they noticed that the carpets are filthy and the rooms are not vacuumed? I did. 
Did they get towels everyday? I didn't. 
Did they notice that the door cannot open unless you press a button operating with electronic circuit - which in case of malfunction makes you wonder if you'r be able to get out? I did. 
And I have not talked about every aspects of design (not counting bad taste) that make me think that no design was hired for this project, here are only a few exemples: 
- Bad lighting above bathroom sink, 
- no mirror above bathroom sink (but a wall covered on next to it, with no light), 
- uneven floors you can easily trip on in the middle of the night, 
- TV remote control operating the general lighting that takes you 30 minutes to figure out
- Did they use the USED slippers? I didn't.

Oh, and explain to me the logic of having two clean glass sitting on a tray and a dirty plastic glass in the bathroom sink holder? 

I was supposed to pay for my entire stay there prior to arrival, with no chance of refund. 
Next thing I was expecting was the twin sisters or Jack visiting me...talk about being stuck.

After The Shining...


Most of the rooms have no window. Service is terrible, breakfast awful, and the staff does not speak any English. Ambiance is that of an Asian horror movie (and this is the most positive aspect of the place). A friend described his experience as a mix of The Blair Which and Twylight Zone. All in Corean with no subtitles.
