We got a deal for this place from Groupon - a 3 night stay for 2 for R950.
I was very impressed with their speedy email responses and helpfulness. They were clearly not very busy so were able to fit us in at short notice. As it turned out, we were the only guests.
The place is a strange mix of really nice and truly awful.
It's an old house converted into a B&B style guest house. The rooms all overlook a lapa and the pool which is nice enough. The pool was the highlight of our trip as it was lovely and warm and very very welcome in the heat. 
We had 2 rooms and they were quite different. We chose the room with a little more floor space so that we could put down a blow up bed for the 5 year old.

On the plus side:
- the beds were awesome. twin beds pushed together to make a large double. beautifully dressed with a mosquito net draped over them. very very comfy and great pillows. nice bed linen.
- there was a kettle and instant coffee and tea available.
- there was a small fridge in the room which was vital in the heat
- excellent aircon and a ceiling fan as well
- The service was excellent - reception and the ladies doing the breakfasts and cleaning the rooms.

On the MINUS side
- the place is so run down that it's actually very sad
- the toilet room had the sink in it and NO DOOR - it had one of those folding flip-flap doors that was not on the rails and didn't fit floor to ceiling anyway - no privacy at all. also no shelves or hooks. the sink taps were loose - not fitted properly into the sink so it was impossible to turn them hard enough to switch them off properly.
- the shower room was literally a shower with barely enough room to close the door behind you.  no extractor/window meant there was mould on the ceiling and the grouting. though it was clean and the shower itself was good, the room felt dirty and yukky and one just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.  the taps were hard to turn off, resulting in lots of dripping
- the room was badly furnished with not enough tables, seating, mirrors etc. 
- The other room was not nearly as bad - at least the toilet had a door and the shower room was not quite so dingy.  but same issues with broken taps, bad furnishing and generally being run down.
- the breakfast (at R50 a head) was OK - dreadful cereals, juices, instant coffee and boring fruit laid out, then hot breakfast on order. The food arrived from the kitchenette about 2m away wrapped in cling film which was weird and also made the food kind of sweaty! quality of the ingredients was poor, cooking was average.  Spur does a R25 breakfast that is on a totally different level.

For the price we paid, I don't think we did so badly. If I'd paid full room rates I'd have had a real problem. We slept comfortably, were fortunate there were no other guests (I'm guessing it would be very noisy as the rooms are right on top of each other) and ate well enough.

It's a sad waste that the place has become so run down. It doesn't deserve 3 stars in its current state though I imagine it once did.

Not good, but not truly BAD.

Cockroaches everyehere. When you move something they scatter in all directions. Even in the basin in the bathroom. Bathroom door broken so no privacy. Broken tap in basin. No hot water in basin. Dated decor. Noisy location with roosters crowing all night, noisy bar across the street, cars doing burouts at the petrol station behind the motel. Stay away.

Tried to make a booking for my family. Kept on been sent from pillar to post and promised to be called back. I needed a simple and clear, will they accommodate my family, YES OR NO? Very unprofessional especially Miranda Lembobo

Horrible service.

We were booked at Boikhutsong as a result of a booking made by Rennies through our company and it was overall a horrible experience. The guesthouse does not look anything like its pictures on the website The bathroom, the mats, the towels, the mugs and the kettle were all stained and old. There was no adequate desk suitable for work. It really irritates me because we travel so much and the website is not a true relection of what the place is. Needless to say, we did not stay a second night and would not ever return.

Absolutely pathetic!!

I called on a Monday to book, to check in on Wednesday. I explained to the lady that made my booking that we are 4 people, 2 adults and 2 kids. I also requested that i check in at 9 am on Wednesday, as i wanted to drop the whife and kids off before i needed to go to work. I was assured this is in order. Upon arrival, at 11:20am, i was taken to a room that was not made up and cleaned yet. It also only had a queen sized bed and one single bed in the room. When i asked the receptionist where my second child must sleep, i was told she can sleep between me and my whife in the queen size bed, because she is small !!!! After i specifically beeked for 4 people! For the Ridiculus price of R1300.00 per night, we are not even allowed to have a bed for each child! Needless to say, i walked out and found somewhere else to stay.
The reception area was also smelling like body oudor.
