My wife and I travelled to the north of Slovakia to visit our daughter. The only hotel I could find a review for in Vrutky, a suburb of Martin, was Hotel Luna.
First, some tips about travelling in Slovakia.The main point of entry is Bratislava Airport. This is a small airport and easily negotiated. The main link between the airport and the city centre is a number 61 bus accessed at a bus stop just outside the terminal building. Tickets for the bus have to be purchased before boarding and then validated in a machine on the bus. There is a red ticket machine just inside the door of the terminal and yellow ticket machines at many of the bus stops. The bus ticket buys a period of time on the bus-the standard one gives an hours travel,ample for the journey. Unfortunately this is not a dedicated airport bus. There is nowhere to store suitcases on it and it rapidly becomes crowded as it stops frequently along the way to pick up local people. The terminus for the bus is Bratislava main railway station-handy if you are travelling on. A point about trains in Slovakia-these are extremely crowded to and from Bratislava on Fridays and Sundays as many people leave work early to go home for the weekend. The express trains have a system of reserving seats for a small extra charge and this is advisable as it can be almost impossible to find an unreserved seat-the corridors become impassable with people and suitcases. The lower right part of the ticket shows the number of the carriage and the seat number reserved. 
We were unable to book directly on the internet with Hotel Luna as their booking form had a mandatory section for a zip code and refused to accept a postcode with letters in it. We were able to make the booking through one of the hotel booking websites .Vrutky is a suburb of Martin, a large town in the north of Slovakia and a working area rather than a tourist destination. Like many towns in Slovakia it has numerous blocks of flats, a legacy of the communist era and there is also a major problem with graffiti. Hotel Luna is surrounded by these blocks of flats. We found that this far away from Bratislava very few people spoke English. The hotel receptionists had very limited English but were very helpful. Our room was clean but had a slight musty smell as if it had not been used for a while. It was warm and there was a plentiful supply of hot water. It featured a minibar although this was empty and unplugged. There was a TV with satellite channels. The door from reception to the room corridor was for some reason locked at night. There was a key for this with the room key but it could have been a fire risk. On our first night there the bulb in one of the bedside lamps went with a loud bang. When we reported this to reception we were instantly given another room.
There was a varied breakfast which included hot dishes as well as the usual continental. The hotel was exceptionally quiet-in three days we did not see any other guests. 
In summary, the hotel was comfortable and I would agree with the previous reviewer-average.

First experience of Slovakia

Average and unexciting. But clean rooms - and a very helpful staff. Restaurant has a nice patio.
