One of the best albergues on the Camino Portuguese. We stayed in a dorm room which was comfortable and clean. Has wifi, charging ports, good shower and lovely garden to sit in. There is a communal dinner for a donation which is very good. They also sell snacks, drinks and some Camino souvenirs. Breakfast is included - bread and jam and coffee. We also found a super market not far away. Highly recommend this as a great stop after the big climb day.

Rec for pilgrims!

Along the past few days of the Camino Portuguese, we bypassed most towns and highways, which was lovely, but we missed having places to stop and rest and re-fortify. Then we came across Quinta Estrada Romana, right on the Camino! It was lovely and welcoming and had the BEST iced tea! The owners were so gracious, just what a tired pilgrim needed. And delicious homemade pastel de nata right out of the oven made our day!
Next time I’ll plan to stay the night!

Best stop on the Camino Portuguese

We stopped for lunch- it’s superb- well above average compared to some of what you get en route. Delicious home made soup, freshly squeezed orange juice, top class pork sandwich marinaded in mustard, excellent home made orange cake etc. Run by a friendly German couple, English spoken, overall highly recommended!!!

Really great option for food on the Portuguese Camino between Rabiaes and Valenca

So far my favourite place on caminho portugues. I think only pilgrims will understand but it was the perfect oasis at the perfect time, perfect food and super-nice people. Dont miss it!. Would have loved to stay for the night, but had a reservation. Did I mention the “roasted meat toast” was mindblowing.. 😱

My friend and I really loved my time here - 200 words is too low a limit to enumerate the things that Diogo and Julia have got right. If it be for the food, the bed or the homemade iced tea, make haste

God this place is good

I can’t explain in a way to express the magic of my visit to Quinta Estrada Romano. I arrived in the afternoon and the staff were so sincere is welcoming me to the Albergue. They took my dirty clothes and washed everything for me while I showered and generally tried to unwind from my walk.
Later I chilled with a glass of red wine and adelicious Portuguese tart.
The beds were so comfortable, with real sheets, and a real pillow. Lots of blankets were available....they thought of everything.
When dinner was ready we were joined by Lesley, the owner, an absolutely engaging Canadian woman who, with her partner, brought this neglected farm from oblivion and ruin to a “Must Stay” on the Camino. Dinner was absolutely delicious, the company and conversation was nothing short of magical.
The following morning a fabulous breakfast was waiting for us....and sadly we bid our farewells.
If you are walking the Portuguese Camino....do yourself a favor.....stop here.

Amazing place on the Portuguese Camino

Decided to walk 2km further to this albergue. Worth every step. Beautiful albergue, amazing host, hospitalera and volunteers. Great accommodation, sensational food and a Defo on your itinerary!  An albergue worthy of a revisit

A beautifully restored farmhouse in an idyllic rustic setting provides a superb context tor tasty nutritious food and local beers. Laundry service, and singalong too!

When you think of a care free, homely, open space for travelers to meet, cook, chat and rest, Estrada Romana is probably the warm image you have. 

Canadian, Geoff is host to a relaxed Quinta with an open house policy. For €25 we got a comfortable bed in a solid bunk, a hot shower, dinner with bread and wine and breakfast. Geoff usually cooks but a few of us offered to help and had a lovely time preparing a meal for the 8 guests on the night. 

Geoff operates an honesty bar policy for drinks, which I love. We had great conversation with our fellow pilgrims in the outdoor seating area and at dinner. We left early the next morning after a nice varied which had been left out for us. 

We loved Geoffs easy going and intoned approach, though this may not suit everyone 😀
