Quinta do Bom Vento

We are a couple in our seventies and we were looking for a quiet homely stay in a more rural area of Portugal. We couldn't have found a more perfect place for our stay. Sam and Rick were the perfect hosts. They were there to warmly welcome us on arrival and were concerned that we were later than expected. From then on, it just got better and better. The fridge was well stocked when we arrived so we didn't have to go out to the Supermarket on arrival and a delicious barbecued chicken awaited us. The house we stayed in was in the Portuguese style as were the other accommodations on the site which resembled a little Portuguese street. We really appreciated the thought that had gone into equipping the house with lots of little extras to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked most of our meals at the house. We must also mention the Pellet stove in the main room. One or two evenings were a bit chilly and Rick showed us how to light the stove. It gave out a good heat and made the room nice and cosy. Also provided were electric blankets in the beds. Definitely a luxury for us. Another surprise was when Sam brought warm fresh bread and pastries from the local bakery and delivered them to our door. At this point, we were beginning to wonder when we would wake up from this dream!! Sam and Rich were always around during the day and gave us lots of useful information. They also arranged a little social gathering with the other visitors so we could have a chat and enjoy a drink and some lovely snacks mostly provided by Sam. We can honestly say that this is the best place we have ever stayed and it is very likely that we will return in the future.
