This small Posada has about 6 rooms total, and is very centrally located about 3 blocks off the main plaza in downtown Leon. It is quite affordable, with price options from just a room with no A/C use, to use of the A/C ,plus continental breakfast. It has rooms around a central courtyard and gardens, with a small area for seating at breakfast, plus additional seating . The rooms are comfy and clean, with hot water, fan, and wi-fi. The beds are good, with nice linens. They also have a safety deposit box for valuables. The owner and staff are very nice, English is limited though. We did have a "weird" incident with two of the junior staff ladies one day though, when we were paying our bill, and they insisted that the 25 colone'
 coins we used were  not currency! With luck, the owner arrived to settle the dis-agreement, and seemed as shocked as we were that the both of them did not even know that 4 twenty five centavo coins made a colony'. Since they were both quite rude with us, I made them apologize to us in front of the owner, who scolded them both afterwords! Apart from this minor thing, I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Very comfortable

We had first booked a room through booking.com but were told to cancel our booking and just reserve the room straight with the hotel upon exchanging email. So we did, and were told through email that the price of a room with A/C and breakfast would be 54 USD/night. Fine we thought. However, when we got there they claimed that it was not including breakfast and that we had to pay 4 USD/person/day for the breakfast - which is by no means 4 USD worth compared to what you can get near the Cathedral for almost the same amount. We even showed them the email correspondence which we had printed out, but the owner Mirriam just got annoyed and pointed to the booking.com prices and more or less said that we should just be happy that we didn't have to pay those, even though the difference wasn't very big. It didn't make it any easier that none of the staff speaks any English, and Mirriam speaks only broken English at a level insufficient to have a proper discussion. (And my Spanish abilities were only sufficient to have rudimentary conversations.) 

That being said, the room was okay, bathroom fine (though only one towel), breakfast = 2 pieces of toast with (insanely sweet) jam and some fruit.

So-so experience

I returned at 11pm and rang the bell over and over and rattled the doors loudly for nearly 1 hour trying to get the attention of the receptionist to open the door to no avail.  I left to find the police to help. It took forever wandering the sketchy streets at night asking for the police station. Eventually I found the station and had to explain and then wait for the senior officer to arrive. We all left together, me and who appeared to be a police captain and another officer. I finally arrived back at the hotel at 1.30am.  The streets were deserted other than vagabonds and druggies.  The officer rang the bell numerous times and tried to call. Still nothing. I rattled the door non stop continuously for 10 minutes and finally the young male receptionist opened the door. Apparently he said he fell asleep which is ridiculous. He put my life in danger wandering the streets late at night alone. I will never recommend this hotel. 

Was locked out until 1.30am by sleeping staff

Let me start by saying this is a great location. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the price is right. I think in the $40 range. Breakfast is an additional $10. We decided to eat elsewhere, so they did refund our $10. 
   Again, i liked this place, but the staff is another story. We are not NEEDY guests. The employees were not friendly nor helpful. They didn't greet us or acknowledge us whether we were coming, going, or checking out. Not so much as a hello or goodbye. The lady at the front desk got a little snotty when we decided to eat out for breakfast. I have been in the service industry for over twenty years and service is everything. There are some things that can be overlooked if the staff is pleasant and welcoming.
  There are too many other places to stay in the area, where the staff is pleasant. Try Azul on the next block. For the same price, plus a pool, the service staff was much better.

Good Location, Expected more

the place is nothing special and the staff is not very easy to get along with.
there was no parking place, even though it was declared so on booking. we were said to just park in the street in front of the place, that was guarded. we did so, but we never saw any guardian.
we didn't try breakfast.
the location is in the middle of the horrible city.
not very convenient in term of money for value.
