This review is Long overdue but this place is hands down the best! The host is so gracious and makes and amazing breakfast. My cousin and I arrived early in the morning and were trying to take a nap in our car when the host came out and told us to stop being ridiculous and come inside the room was beautiful and the service was implacable! Still think about the the breakfast and lovely room we stayed in. You must stay here look no further!!!

Amazing BnB and a MUST in bay of islands 

I've spent 2 days there from 21st to 23rd March in a suit. I've made a list of comments from my experience:
1. Comfort: The lodge is absolutely nice and peaceful located in the corner of the street on a hill above the town. The suit where I lived is actually a separated building on the side of the yard without a water view. It contains two levels that ground one of the main entrance is a small lounge with sofa, wood fire, TV and a fridge. The upper level has two rooms with a queen or king bed in the main and a single bed in another space. The bath space is just on the back of large bed wall. This area has another TV and another entrance to the balcony. The host kept this place very tidy and comfortable. Everything was well organised in right place to make it more likely a warm home. The environment was quiet as well whenever daytime or night. The dining room has a wonderful sea view covered by glass, I would like to enjoy the sunshine and the view.

2. Service: The host was so friendly and there were two lovely dogs. Breakfast was really nice. The service part was excellent during my two days. Wifi is free with a password.

3. Location: As I mentioned above, the location is one of the best parts with a beautiful view and peaceful environment. Walking to the town will take about 15-20 mins from the hill (if you have any physical problem such as bad knees or ankle, think carefully as it may be tough for walking from the town). There are some walk paths around this area you can discover.

4. Price: Quite reasonable rate contents a great breakfast. Combining the price and the service that making the stay were more valuable.

The suit may be better for a couple's romantic stay or a family with a kid.

Wonderful place and nice accommondation

We spent 2 nights in the Garden Room - one of the best B&B's ever! The hosts were most helpful and accommodating to our requests including an early morning, full breakfast before the sun rose.  Superb!

Exceptional B&B in a beautiful and peaceful setting

Titore Lodge is a fine lodge perched on a hill above the town of Russell. Its a bit of a walk from the town itself which is best reached through paths in the woods in daylight. Its best to drive at night time. The hosts are lovely people and present some excellent accommodation. Our room was a sea-view which had a brilliant view of the bay below. It was well furnished and decorated and had all we required for our short stay. Unfortunately our travelling companions did not fare so well with their garden room which was a bit strange in design featuring a very steep, narrow set of stairs to the upper floor and an unusual positioning of the toilet behind the bed! The sea-view rooms (2) are much the better option but you should be aware that they are not very accessible for those with limited mobility. Problems are very steep, narrow internal stairs and an external rustic stepped path with a rickety handrail. We had much difficulty with our luggage and consider ourselves as fairly mobile. 
The breakfasts are exceptionally good. Every taste is catered for with continental or cooked choices and all the usual breakfast sundries are available. The hosts go out of their way to look after you and are very helpful with local knowledge. 
We highly recommend Titore Lodge but highlight the problems those of  limited mobility might encounter!

Excellent Stay

We were in the Garden Suite, which has a lovely sea view, is nicely decorated, and is quite spacious for two.  

I notice a lot of reviews mention breakfast but we didn't get that (maybe because we had a 'grabone'deal, or maybe the place has changed hands). Breakfast didn't seem to be an option... But that wasn't a problem for us. 

What would definitely put me off staying again was the strong smell of damp every time we came into the room, which wasn't dissipated by opening all the doors and windows...  not healthy or pleasant.   There was mould on a couple of the electric plugs.  I guess it's because it's underneath another unit.

The other thing to be aware of is it's very dark walking up and down to the unit at night from the road.   It was only later we found a torch in the cupboard... And in daylight we saw there were lights along the path...So probably there was a switch somewhere inside that we hadn't spotted.  Perhaps the owners could put an information sheet inside the unit to let people know. 
 
Bed was comfortable, and there were  little extras like coffee and body lotion.  

Russell itself is a charming and historic little town.  Te Waimate Mission (an easy drive away) is definitely worth a visit if you're interested in history.
