This is an older resort. . In need of some updating BUT still nice. My parents have owned a month here for 14 years. There is a dolphin,  manatee and sea lion pool. Many people come here to swim and feed the sea life. There is also a marina with many boats docked. There are restaurants and small gift shops. In comparing this property to others that I have visited,  I would be expecting MORE... better landscaping, newer flat screen TVs and TVs in each room. The lighting outside can be better. Walking at night we needed a flashlight. 

Nice resort !!

The town is a gated community with good security. We had a great visit because we wanted to sit and relax. We had 2 private balconies overlooking the marina docks. Next door was the swim with the dolphins venue.

Management was great in that the checkin was quick, and the delivery of the 21 liter bottle of water was instant. We had a 3rd floor walk up so I was glad the bell boy was strong as our suitcase was over 50 pounds. 

The unit was spacious, well equipped, and clean. There were lots of good inexpensive restaurants within a 3 minute walk down the dock. 

Initially it was a pain in the neck to be sure we did not drink the water even to brush our teeth. But after a day or two it became second nature to use the bottled water. 

Wifi worked only by the pool. Even our decks that overlooked the pool had poor signal.

The deck had lots of little ants but inside the unit was ant free.

Just outside of the gated community there is a large food store that has everything you could want. 

We used a shuttle service to arrive and depart and did not rent a car. We found we did not need a car.

If this resort is available on a timeshare trade when I want to go I would definitely stay again.

Very good timeshare trade. Quiet resort, beautiful relaxing location, watch the dolphins jump.

Enjoyed a quick stay at the Port Bello Private Residences on our way farther south. Booked through Expedia. 

Staff was friendly.  They made easy arrangements for us as we arrived very late on New Year's Day.  Would have appreciated an email notifying us they'd be closed. 

Unit was clean.  Small bug issue in the bathroom was off putting, but we didn't stay long enough to have it remedied. 

Great view of the marina. Hot tub in the balcony looked fun, but we didn't have time to use it.   Ac works well. Parking is a breeze. Unit had a full kitchen and was well stocked with cooking tools. 

Would have appreciated wifi instructions in the unit, clean water, a map of PA, phone instructions, etc.  I'm sure these are delivered upon check in, so write that off to our holiday late arrival after the office closed.  Again, very appreciative of them leaving a key and instructions for how to get into the unit.  

Great quick stay.  

My family traveled in August 2011 to Porto Bello and invited a cousin to meet us.  We had a ball! I wish more of the family came. We had a 3 bedroom unit. Maid service came daily and we had a great view of the marina. The Super Chedraui is right outside of the gates so we walked, got groceries and caught a cab back. The property is large with all the stores, houses and attractions so renting a golf cart is a great way to get around in the community.  My husband played golf every day - he was in paradise so this community gave us the best of all worlds - the kids had a pool and access to the beach via the Omni (though not a lot of beach due to erosion) and my hubby, golf!  The biggest draw back to the place was for a unit so large to not have a washer and dryer inside. There is no elevator in the section we were in so that was a hassle to do laundry - also  there may only be 1 staff member that speaks English well so between my "ok" Spanish and  her "ok" English we  communicated. Beware of using the telephone to even order pizza - you are charged. You are very much on your own so do not expect room service, concierge or the such.

Awesome Family Vacation

The overall appearance and cleanliness was good when I first arrived. I was told not to drink the water and instead to buy a large bottle of water from the resort. That was fine with me but then I was told there was no-one to deliver it (it was around 4 or 5pm). Luckily they found someone and he was very helpful; he noticed my door lock was loose and fixed it immediately. This resort is quiet in the sense that there isn't a lot going on. You definitely need a car.  However it is noisy with construction going on directly across from my unit - which I was not informed of. There was also a of of noise coming from the road that goes past this resort down to the Omni and other resorts. Constant trucks traveling down the road delivering supplies. Early in my stay I noticed bugs when I placed a white plate on the marble looking counter (dark coloured). Turned my back and saw bugs on the plate. As I started looking closely at the counter I could see quite a few of them.  I realize this is the tropics but I am not talking about a bug or two. I managed to communicate with the maid and she said she would spray. Initially it seemed better then it got hugely worse.  The bugs were spewing out the wall behind the microwave and walking across the counter down the wall into the living area. The staff member in the office was indifferent to the situation. I showed her the video I had taken and her response was "this used to be jungle, when it's hot or wet there are bugs". She then said she would have the unit sprayed. This was a more complete spraying - which meant I packed up all my things as I didn't want chemicals all over my clothes. I had to stay out of the unit so a not to breathe in the spray.  It did get better after this but as you can imagine I was not comfortable in this unit at all and certainly didn't want to prepare food here. So much for saving money on food. Very disappointed with this resort and their management. I emailed them before my trip about transportation from the airport to the resort. The only response I got was after I had returned home and it was basically a marketing email. They have yet to respond to this situation.  I realize that this may not affect all the units but this totally ruined my vacation.  I don't understand why they wouldn't have simply moved me. I stayed here thru my timeshare exchange and must say that at least Interval International refunded my exchange fee.  Even if this had not occurred I would not recommend this "resort", far too quiet and the owners there question everyone they don't recognize. Too old, too boring. Thanks goodness for the very nice people I met in the neighboring room.
