Villa on the local Himmafushi island - 1 hour by ferry, 20 minutes by speedboat from Male.
Good place and friendly staff.
Yammy food, fresh pool and many big cats.
Comfortable rooms, villa near the sport beach.
The beach does not smell very good at low tide, but for surfers it does not important :)
Nice sunrices and sunsets.


Can't beat this joint for value for money.. One quarter - one fifth of the price as the exclusive resorts nearby.  Ten minute walk and paddle to Jailbreaks. Accomm is right amongst the locals going about their daily life who are super relaxed and friendly. Food really good for price. Great place for meeting people from all over the world. Awesome spot for surf trip. 

We stayed in Just Surf Villa during our new year family vacation. This was off season. The surfing season I was told begins in March, and the guesthouse is not far from the jail breaks surf point. 

The rooms were spacious, clean and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The guesthouse has a saltwater pool, a table tennis table and a foosball table. The beach and water-sports place (they offer jet skiing, canoeing, paddle boarding, snorkeling gear etc) just a short stroll away. 

We stayed here for four nights and went diving for three days. The room was very clean and spacious, with an en-suite bathroom and shower. We got to stay in the main villa, which has a ocean-water pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were served in the main area and it was always tasty.

We did two dives per day. Gui, the manager, took us to see some of the best spots. We saw reef sharks, mooray eels, eagle rays, turtles and plenty of other fish. There are a lot of fish everywhere, sadly the corals went through a bleaching last year due to rise in seawater temperatures over a couple of months, so they are not in amazing condition, but it was still enjoyable due to the amount of fish around.

The surfers would take a different boat and go enjoy some waves. They all looked pretty happy when we all met up for dinner in the evening.

Overall we had a nice stay and it's good value for money.  The staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile. Shout out to Gui for being an awesome host.

Two issues worth mentioning:
1. The water pressure drops sporadically as everything is powered by the island's electrical grid, which is supplied by a diesel generator. 

2. The electricity supply is unable to meet peak hour demand. As a result, the air conditioning in the rooms is unable to keep the room cool during the day. In the evening, with cooler outside temperatures, the AC is sufficient to keep the room comfortable.

Important to note that both of the above two issues are out of the management's control and they were very diligent in trying to help whenever they can.

Awesome Surf Trip

This place was OK but lacking certain little luxuries. e.g. No soap, no TV in the room, no daily cleaning of the room. However there's not a lot of choice on the island and it was certainly adequate. The meals were all excellent. We stayed there because it had a swimming pool. It's owned and run by German people. If you're into diving it would be excellent as the manager seems to take groups diving every day. It's also close to the bikini beach.

Very laid back

The place wasn’t so clean, cockroaches everywhere.
The smell of the water in shower was disgusting (like a rotten egg).
Food was never enough and wasn’t so good at all, usually it was cold when served.
Air conditioning in the room wasn’t working  as expected.
I definitely not recommended to go to this hostel, you can find another decent place for the same amount of money or less.
