The hotel is 5min walk from echigo-yuzawa Station. Staff are very friendly though language can be difficult, though everyone tries and Google translate helps. There are multiple ski resort buses stopping outside the hotel going to Gala, NASPA and Kandatsu.
Rooms are large for a Japanese hotel and decently appointed. The onsen on the 13th floor was a godsend after long days of snowboarding and its large with indoor and outdoor sections.
Breakfast was delicious, what lacked in quantity more than made up in quality.
People who are light sleepers may want to reconsider as it is next to the train tracks and they can be heard clearly in the rooms 

This hotel is located 10 minutes walk to South from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. 

I visited with my family. 

Our room was on the north side and we could see Shinkansen and local trains coming to and leave the station. You can see trains also from the hot springs on the top floor. 

On the ground floor, there's a big train diorama where you can run the N-gauge trains yourself for free. 

越後湯沢駅の南、徒歩10分に位置しています。家族旅行で宿泊しました。僕たちの部屋は北向きでしたが、新幹線とローカル線、2種類の列車が駅に行き来するのを楽しむことができました。屋上展望風呂からも、電車を見ることができます。フロントの脇にはNゲージのジオラマがあって、無料で電車を走らせることができました。

I've only seen it in the classical movies that you drop off the key with the concierge when leaving the hotel during the stay. While the access cards are taking over the world this place left me and my family such fond memories for our winter trip to Yuzawa. The entire place is out-dated but customer service and their staffs are friendly, warm and cute. There is a scissors paper rock competition at the lobby every night after dinner and magic shows on the night of Christmas. Would love to visit again.

We got a room with 4 single beds and a private bathroom. There was enough space for a family of four to feel comfortable. The view from the room was awesome!  The hotel is old but very clean.
There is a game room for the young at heart on the 2nd floor. The Onsen is on the 13th floor.

Breakfast - mostly Japanese dishes but there are also fresh fruits, toast, cereals, sausages and eggs.

There is a hotel shuttle from 8:30 to 6pm from the train station to the hotel. The hotel is about a 10mins walk from the train station. 20 meters from the hotel ,  you can take a free bus to the ski resorts- Naspa and also Gala.

Pros:
- our room of 3 pax is very large and spacious when compare with many other hotels. 
- western bed and pillow well maintained (for a person always with sore neck and shoulder) 
- very good breakfast in japanese-western buffet style. 
- for those hv luggages, there are lifts (yes, more than one lift) 
- within 10 mins walking distance on flat road, very convenient
- except heading to ski resorts relatively away from Yuzawa town, e. g. Kagura/Naeba, Joetsu Kokusai, shuttle bus stops to all other ski resort are just right outside or opposite the entrance of the hotel, extremely convenient and clear for skiers
- 3 onsen pools on the top floor (!) , 2 at indoor, 1 at outdoor. One of the indoor pools installed with metal tubes and will emit water bubbles that serve well as jacuzzi (very effwctuve to sooth muscle). The outdoor onsen, as is at the roof top, provides a paranomic view of mountains of Yuzawa, exceptionally fantastic.
- the quality of ski rental is much better than most hotel-rental in yuzawa area, with similar price.
- clear schedule of hotel shuttle bus to train station from 0830hrs to 1800hrs. At other times, shuttle bus to station is available upon advance booking.
- despite very busy, the staff tried their best to provide best service and hospitality.  For instance, when we proceeded to walk to the town for dinner, and while the front desk staff was not engaged for a while, they immediately rushed out and offer to drive us to the town.

Cons:
- Built in the economic bubble decade, the hotel is not new or chic.
- the ventilation fan installed at the indoor onsens caused some sound at outdoor onsen (if to be picky). 
- as situated next to the railway, there may be some sound detected in room (well, we did not hear any, though our room is exactly next to the railway, we can see the train from bedroom window, not sure if we are too tired or slept too well)

*this will be one of our top options if we visit Yuzawa again.
