A reasonably priced business hotel right near Uji JR.  The rooms were clean, staff friendly and the breakfast was good value.  The in-room WiFi was also of a good quality and allowed me to keep in touch with home/work.

The local area is good for sightseeing and close to Byodoin.

Good quality Business Hotel

While in the Kyoto area for business I stay at this hotel. It was very nice business hotel with a very good restaurant attached to it. The rooms were small but very clean and very adequate for the needs for a traveler on business.

Nice business hotel

Having stayed at this hotel for 5 years in a row I feel qualified to comment, very simple hotel for a good price, small rooms, but very clean, fantastic helpful service, staff are awesome, the main features are the location, laundry 100 metres away, many cheap local little restaurants and supermarkets. JR and Keihan rail station's within walking distance, and of course you are in the middle of Uji with its many sights, shrines, temples and historic sights. I would recommend this hotel

Simple, awesome location, great local facilities

we stayed in this hotel in october 2009.  fyi - i originally submitted a review for this hotel, but it was never posted, so i am trying again to post this to help others.

the desk people were friendly.  it was the room that we felt was not good.  admittedly, we asked for a twin share room, which was smoking (this hotel only has twin share smoking rooms or single share non-smoking rooms or single share smoking rooms).  the room was quite small (as you can see from the pictures).  the worse part of this was the bed (was uncomfortable - mattress had a dip) and the smoke smell - it was so strong, i didn't sleep that night.  by the way, we couldn't open our window - it was jammed.  the room was very stuffy as the air-conditioning did not work very well in our room.

also, the pillows were those wheat pillows that the japanese are fond of.  they were the most uncomfortable pillows that we had (the wheat was so flat and used up).  the carpet in our room was not in good condition.
