The hotel is situated on a hill, approximately ten minutes' walk from the main road. If you arrive late at night, it is recommended that you buy groceries at the supermarket on the main road (the kitchen can be loaned so you can cook yourself). This Japanese-style hostel has a bathroom with a capacity of four people and one private shower. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Oh and there’s also wifi available in the premises. Even though he doesn't speak English, the host is very friendly. The only drawback is the smelly toilet; everything else is highly recommended.

Just need to improve the toilets!

If you are backpacker with low budget, it will be best. you can use bath, dining room, laundry, cozy sofa, terras, free coffee and tea, dishes. you can have a supper if you pay 980yen. breakfast is 680yen. if you want to make food self, you can use some cook stuff free. there is refrigerater. room is arrounded by bamboo. and the host!! especially perfect and kind! my last day, It was very windy and rainy strongly . they checked train and bus contiually for me, finally they bring me to station.

Comfy place! Super clean! Friendly owner! Cheap! The only minus is location. It is far from Amanohashidate station. If you arrive a little bit late, no more ferry and bus only run once in two hours in the night and the last bus is 8 PM. Then also no convenience store around the hostel. But if you arrive in the afternoon, this place is a great choice!!!

Amanohashidate Youth Hostel is a really cozy place. The hostel is situated far from the "city", but you can rent bikes nearby so that's not a really big problem. The common-room is big, the bedrooms are also ok in size. There are shared bathrooms, but as everywhere else in Japan; really clean and tidy. I really liked the atmosphere in this place, quiet and close to nature. In my experience this is not a typical youth hostel, me and my friend were the only "youths" there, the rest were (japanese) families.

Nice experience

We stayed overnight at the youth hostel while passing through the Miyazu area. We had a little trouble finding the place, even with GPS, as it is tucked away on the edge of the forest near a nice temple. We got a peaceful nights rest and the price was reasonable, so if you are into the hostel scene, you will like this place.

The hostel is located about 10min walk up the hill out of the town center. It is a very pleasant town to walk around and the long, narrow peninsula that juts out across the bay is great for a morning run or walk. There weren’t too many options for eating around there, as everything seemed to be closed, so we cooked our own meals in the hostel kitchen. The setting was really delightful, one of the main attractions of staying here.

We booked into a private double room for $88. It was Japanese style with minimal furnishings and futon style bed, which we found to be extremely comfy and we had a great sleep. The room also had a nice conservatory which looked out over the forested hill down to the coast. The place was very clean and seemed to be well looked after. The bathroom facilities were all shared and might become fairly busy during high season, but we were nearly the only people staying there so it wasn’t an issue. There was a nice kitchen/dining area with plenty of tables, couches, books, games, etc. and a good view over the town and bay. 

The owners/managers were very polite, helpful, and friendly and spoke fairly good English. Lots of maps and information about the area were available in the lobby area, as well as an internet computer for $3/hr. 

We had a pleasant stay here, but didn’t think it was all that great a value for money. We didn’t really care for shared ablutions or the numerous rules and regulations associated with youth hostels, but the place served us well as an overnight stop. If you enjoy the sociable hostelling scene, you will definitely like this place and we highly recommend it. If not, you will probably be better off in one of the other hotels in the town.
