What was good

We stayed at this ryokan for 1 night. Overall, we had a great stay at Hakone Gora Onsen Aoiso. The public bath and private bath was clean and very relaxing. Definitely take advantage of reserving for the private bath. However, the public bath was not crowded and we had it all to ourselves. The outdoor bath was fun too. The food (sashimi, hotpot soup, smoked mackerel, grilled beef) was delicious. I would recommend including breakfast in your reservation. Our room was very spacious for two people. After we checked out the following evening, they allow you to leave your luggage at the hotel front desk if you want to walk around to any of the local shops in Hakone. We went to Gora Park which is closeby. The staff is very nice and speak decent english. We wish we reserved for longer!

What was bad

The size of the onsen bath “tubs” were a little smaller than expected, but they were fine for me and my friend who was traveling with me since we are petite. Be careful with leaving your screen door open. Me and my friend were bitten by mosquitos while we slept which is mostly our fault and not the hotel’s.
