Reasonable price for the room. Nice restaurants around. Free parking space nearby. I can view Mt. Fuji from roof top. There’s basically no service except check in and out. Everything is self-served.To note, my face and mouth got skin condition after the first night of sleep and believe it’s because of the quilt/cover. Stayed for 2 nights. Recovered quickly after moving to the next hotel.

It's a straight Japanese tradition room set up. You need more or less to knee in the room for minor movements and sleep on floor. What's an unique experience, though. Views from the room and on top of the roof are spectacular, Mr. Fuji and Yamaguchiko in front of eyes. Excellent for those willing to explore different cultures!

Nice place to stay and relax. Wonderful host. Will definitely come back again.

The room is neat but it’s quite dirty. The aircon has lots of dust so when we turn it on, we all got cough. The futon bed feels damp / humid. The shared bathroom is also not really clean. The owner is very nice. It also has shuttle minibus to station which is convenient.

Rather tatty and run down with poor facilities. Stained curtains etc and very expensive for what it was.  The Onsen baths had seen better days - flakes and crumbling.

This is a really good ryokan, fantastic location near Lake Kawaguchi, not for people who like everything smooth and modern, but for those who appreciate couleur locale and friendly hosts

This is a lovely classic Ryokan with a fantastically helpful Japanese lady welcoming and helping her guests; although she doesn't speak a word of English, but Google translate works wonders. There is a pick up/drop off service from and to the busstation, but the lady also drove our sons in very early to start their climb to the top of Fuji-san. Fabulous breakfast upon request, seated amidst other guests in their provided yakatas. Comfortable, clean rooms and bed linen. If you are used to standard hotels, I wouldn't go here. If you fall for some rusty charm, this is your place. Also excellebt location and view

Rusty but lovely and welcoming

I booked this hotel for two friends.Because they only took payment at the hotel I had a Japanese friend call them to confirm it was OK to forward the money prior to my friends arrival as it was a gift. We sent the money from Japan. On arrival my friends were told that they had to pay as no money had arrived. This cost them all of their cash. so now they are embarrassed AND have no money.

They called me very distressed. I could only apologise and say I would sort it out.
The next day we went to the post office to check on the money. It had arrived and been signed for 2 weeks before their arrival. Akaishi still denied receiving it until we presented them with the EXACT time the letter was delivered. 

My friends had left by then, so we asked them to return the money asap. They said that they had made a mistake and thought my ladies were the party of Lee from CHINA!! My ladies are from UK and both blond. They then said that Lee hadn't paid and suggested it was our fault. They said they had given my friends a discount so would sent the amount they had charged to me. Obviously this was not acceptable. The money did arrive, but they still insisted that it was them who were right and we were wrong.

Don't trust this lady. Even my Japanese friend said she was lying!

Untrustworthy owner

We stayed at this Ryokan for two nights and it is very old with no amenities whatsoever.  No coffee or breakfast onsite or around, rooms look very old, location right across from the lake but that's the only positive. I wouldn't recommend this place or stay here again. Felt like it was way too expensive for what it has to offer.

Overpriced, rundown Ryokan

This family owned minshuku is situated next to the lake so it is nice to walk around it. It is really quiet and in spite of what an opinion is saying here, there is air conditioning in the room so it was warm enough. The breakfast was really nice too.
