Ploseblick

Positioned in a lovely little town up in the mountains we were initially surprised at how easy it was to get to with a bus from Brixen station costing only €1.50pp and it stops about 1 min from the station. Unfortunately we got a Taxi for €25 on our first day but you have no way of knowing till you get there. The hotel was very warm, which was brilliant what with the -3C temperatures being the warmest we had during the day and we were greeted by a very nice member of staff who checked us in. The room was spacious and very clean, albeit a little light on the amenities as we lacked some basics like a kettle, the bathroom was stocked with towels, hand soap and shower/shampoo, however. Perhaps my posture is to blame but I found the bed somewhat uncomfortable with a very thin mattress. My partner had no complaints and she is usually the fussier sleeper of us both. We opted for the Bed and Breakfast package. The buffet breakfast was OK with a selection of cold meats, bread, cereals end eggs. Sweet pastries were also available. We had dinner on our last evening and, while an expensive extra, it was a very well cooked and delicious 4 course set menu. We had to leave at half 6, before the 7.30 breakfast of course, but as we let them know a small breakfast was prepared for us in a side room, even with hot coffee. How they managed that when the breakfast staff arrive at half 6 is still a mystery to me. The hotel does have a pool and sauna but we didn't use them so I can't comment. Heads up to English speakers, brush up on your Italian or German, a few pleasantries go a long way and only 1 member of staff spoke English. Overall the Ploseblick Hotel was a comfortable place to return to after a long day in the mountains.
