River Walk Apartments (Campus Accommodation)

We had a great night in Waterford in the Riverwalk apartments.  It was a great location with a quick taxi drive to the city.  The apartments were clean and a good size.  Each bedroom had a bathroom which was ideal for our stay.  All the people we dealt with during our experience in the office and security were super friendly.  All in all i would highly recommend the apartments.

Staying at Riverwalk does Not guarantee a riverview however the room is clean,well secured and spacious,which is excellent.Shuttle bus services are available for students every morning and evening during weekdays.However,at busy times you might have difficulty contacting the reception.

Spacious room however often irresponsive reception

The place is modest, great for college students. Sadly they don’t provide WiFi. Rooms are spacious, siting room combined with kitchen: I think it’s really not that bad considering other buildings in Waterford

Good for college students

I just checked into Riverwalk Student Accommodation in Waterford, Ireland . Travelling solo I booked a single room, only to be denied access to the kitchen area. The door handle has actually been removed!!!!! It appears this basic facility (fridge, microwave etc) is only available to those who book 2 or more rooms.....what a disgrace!

Riverwalk is the worst stay ever, staff and guards are racist towards anyone outside of EU region. Guards come inside the apartments even if you're just sitting and not making noise only of asian students. You'll hear the manager comment you casually to go back to your country rather than fixing the problems. They know the housing problem in the city and know even if the students leave they will find the replacement and students don't have families and friends here and cannot leave that's why they face this humiliation. I will urge all the Asian students coming to study in SETU to not come here and go to other city or country. Because here you will not find reasonable accommodation or else have to face the mental torture.

Racist, unprofessional, and rude

Just finished my first year in WIT and boy god do I have horror stories from Riverwalk. All of this is 100% true as you can see from similar reviews here. Do not stay stay here

There is so much mould during the winter.
Mould all around the windows, growing on the ceiling, and on every single wall in the bathroom.
Maintenance said bottom floors are "mould prone" and nothing can be done but continuous removal every few months. I was on the top floor, so I cant imagine what the bottom floors looked like.

Riverwalk is deathly cold in the winter. You can see your breath. The heater is useless and extremely costly. Had to buy an electric blanket and spent most of the winter in bed just to stay warm. I wish I was joking.

The apartment was filthy when I moved in. Paying 150 euro for maintenance, but for what?
There was this awful smell when I first movee in and I had to scrub the scummy fridge freezer, the dirt which was caked onto the stove top, there was this dirt underneath the chair legs which dragged brown stuff across the floor. The shower was slippery with scum and there were yellow stains around the toilet.
It's clear the mould and dirt on the walls has just been painted over.

I'll get into the broken things.
Box spring was broken down the middle, bed sunk in.
Half the wardrobe door is broken
Missing an essential shelf in the kitchen, as there is only one little cupboard and 2 drawers for 3 people's worth of food. Asked for essential shelf to be replaced, and was told that they didn't have the materials for it.
The toaster set bread on fire
No Sweeping brush, no pan, only 2 plates, no glasses.

The electricity is paid through Pinergy, independently from the monthly rent bill.
Did you know that Pinergy is the most expensive electricity provider in Ireland?
It costs about 10 euro to use one heater for 2 hours.
It also costs about 6 euro to heat the water for a measly 7 minutes.
The water heater didn't work for the first 2 weeks and the plumber had to be emailed 4 times until he finally fixed the heating. We later told him that it only heated up 7 minutes of hot water, and he didn't believe us.??

Only shuttle buses which are advertised are apparently available to bring students to college are only provided hours before college starts, and also 30 minutes after college begins for the day. I have never actually witnessed them collecting students. I think it is a myth

When reception closes at 4pm, there is usually a 2 hour gap until security shows up. Once I encountered a man trapped in the elevator. Reception was closed and I tried to ring the emergency contact number. No one picked up. Had to wait over an hour for security to show up and help.

Little to no bike stands. Bikes have been stolen. Must keep them in tiny hallway in apartment.

If you have a roomate who will not pay electricity costs, they will not kick the roomate out. They will only offer to move unhappy roomates to another apartment

Awful awful student accommodation

Riverwalk, I Would rather sleep in my car than this place, it's overpriced for the little you actually get and The manager is ignorant and lazy.

Wireless internet was only recently installed for the residents (2021.......) Very difficult to get any sleep with road noise and other student's late night rowdiness around the complex. 

My room itself had mold and damp everywhere with either nothing done about it or careless painting to try hide it. Place was filthy when we arrived, blood sweat and tears trying to clean the apartment which is apparently meant to be cleaned after each resident. 

No tv unless it's requested, washing machines and dryers which are in another building unless youre very lucky only actually work half the time. They would be swallowing your tokens and not turning on or leaving the clothes damp even after drying, the tokens being 7 euros for only one wash and one dry in exact change or you can forget about it.

 The elevator was left broken for a good 3 months leaving us lugging the weekly shop or any laundry etc. up and down 3 flights of stairs every week despite management being told the same week it stopped working. Glad there weren't any disabled residents that would have badly needed it.

The extractor Fan door above our oven came clean off it's hinges when we opened it and after complaining, reception said it's just "usual wear and tear". Have also heard horror stories from other students about their apartments being in a bad way on arrival but my photos here speak for themselves. My advice just stay somewhere else it's not fair on yourself to be put through it.

Dont stay here !

Cancelled my trip via message over Booking.com, no phone call, no voice message even. Had asked about facilities weeks prior to this and was not advised that the property was closing for the summer. Not impressed.

Dogs have better manners...

This accommodation is sub standard for letting to customers but probably adequate as spartan student rooms. This was our first night in Ireland after touring Italy and England. I am so disappointed with the first impression of this country 

Ok where do I start? No soap in the bathroom. No glasses in the bathroom not even disposable cups. The towels were low grade, small and of the very basic quality. The room was so small that the desk impedes me from moving from one side of the bed to the bathroom. This must breach health and safety regulations. The toilet does not flush properly and requires 3-4 attempts to flush through. I had to adjust the cistern stop cock valve to get better flow

Tea and coffee making facilities are in the corridor shared with 3 other units. Why not in each room? This is a mean cheapskate approach and probably developed by someone in the campus economics dept. 

There is no wifi! In this day and age even the humblest of cafes have wifi.

The shared laundry was so filthy that we could not do our washing 

Obviously the management is trying to get a return on its assets during holiday periods and fair play to them but someone urgently needs to get a hotel management consultant to advise on getting this place up to scratch. It really would not cost much to make a major impact. 

Overall it’s the worst accommodation we have encountered on our recent travels and should have backpacker classification until improvements are made.

I give it C- grade

Awful sub-standard accommodation 

I had the misfortune of staying in this kip for one night. It was filthy with mould on the kitchen equipment and a think layer of grease and dirt on the floor. 

The manager was hugely unprofessional and aggressive. A woman with young children complaining at the reception area was told she "looked like a troublemaker" when she complained about the mould issue. 

Utter health risk and should be closed down. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
