A wonderful experience for the family. 

Walking with, and learning about, the elephants that have been rescued.    The “host” was knowledgeable and engaging.  There’s also a camel that has been rescued and returned to good health. 

The lunch in the restaurant was thoroughly enjoyed by my family.  

Definitely a place to spend more time on another trip.

A very worth while detour.   An elephant experience that cares for the elephants and camel.

My two daughters and myself were so lucky to experience an overnight stay here, it felt as if we had entered an enchanted world of peace and tranquility. The tent itself was like a Tardis, the photos do not do it justice, comfy beds, and butter lamps and oil lamps lit path when we stepped out of out tent to go to eat our evening meal outside , complete with open fire.

The Mahout and his elephant Ranga Mala were so in tune with each other, their bond was so beautiful to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our elephant walk, breakfast with her, and then to be able to wash her.

All the food was delicious, the staff were so polite and attentive, and we loved our trip with Udaijit
to see the farm and countryside. Their vegetables are the healthiest we have ever seen.

Thank you all for making our stay so magical.

Simply the best.

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Dera Amer.
Meeting and feeding the elephants was very special, as was our elephant walk where we became aware of a leopard watching from a high crag! It walked through the camp that night!
The drive through the estate watching birds was a pleasure and seeing the giant greenhouse where vegetables are grown was a revelation.
The food was utterly delicious, the staff helpful, and our tent was marvelous, very comfortable beds and stylishly decorated. Eating outside was magical with all the lights.
Overall one of the highlights of our time in Rajasthan.

Wonderful time at Dera Amer

We didn’t stay here, instead we came for lunch to meet their two rescued elephants. 
In Jaipur elephants work at the fort in hot and hard conditions, and are ridden every day by hundreds of lazy tourists. Here they have two beautiful elephants rescued from that life.
They roam around freely eating and living their best lives. You can feed them, and wash them, but that’s all - this is an ethical experience.
We had a delicious lunch in the lawn and the whole day was amazing! 
Wonderful staff who are doing a fantastic job.

Fantastic place to visit

Had a wonderful, one night stay at the wilderness camp. Our tents were luxurious and comfortable and the bathroom had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The highlights were the elephants , Rangmala and Laxmi and the camel, Lucky, all rescued from a lifetime of drudgery. These animals couldn’t look happier to be there and it’s obvious that they are well looked after. I was so privileged to be able to interact with them on their own terms. Our guide took us for a guided walk, pointing out everything of interest, we took a jeep ride to their greenhouse and then to the nearby village.
The evening was spent around a bonfire with glasses of wine and delicious food. Breakfast was wonderful and freshly made. A special mention for Dharmendra, what an asset. He is a charming, courteous and throughly likeable guy.
All in all a fantastic stay

Fabulous one night stay 

Truly a hidden gem at Jaipur, Dera Amer Wilderness Camp should be a must visit on every animal lover's itinerary. We stayed here for 2 nights in February & thoroughly loved the glamping experience in the forests. They also permit limited day trips on prior booking only.

Dera Amer Wilderness Camp is a large property situated in the forests near Amber Fort, with limited luxury tents for staying. They have 2 elephants (Lakshmi & Rangmala), 1 camel (Lucky), several cows & dogs within the premises. Visitors can interact with all the animals and sometimes bathe them, however elephant riding is not allowed. There are camel-cart rides for small children. Since this property is situated in the forest, leopards regularly prowl freely at night. You may hear them growl at night & even spot pugmarks in the morning.

The glamping experience is amazing, the tents are luxurious & provide for all basic facilities. The service is impeccable, you get to dine like royalty in the middle of the jungle with peacocks all around. The food is mostly locally grown in nearby farms & very fresh. They also take you to visit their greenhouse & local village. 

Overall, it's a very rustic & luxurious experience. At over 20k per night, it's surely not cheap, but a couple of nights stay is recommended to truly enjoy life as close to nature as possible.

Rustic yet luxurious forest glamping

The room was lovely and only a little cold but we visited in winter when it was -1 degrees. The heater does a nice job and just ask for an extra blanket and you'll be fine. The staff was super friendly and the premises were serene. I enjoyed feeding the elephant and camel which is a lovely experience. The breakfast they prepared for us was incredible. Fresh pressed juice of our liking, Omelette made to order, toast etc the works. Eating the delicious breakfast while watching the elephant nearby was something I'll never forget.

Loved Lakshmi the Elephant

Dera Amer is a uniquely special place - they have adopted two elephants and given them sanctuary from a working life on the road or at festivals - they live as close to a natural existence as possible for a domesticated animal. Each has a Mahout who lives and cares for  them full time and they walk and live in a natural environment. We had a beautiful evening stroll with them , fed them bananas and sugar cane and then had an evening meal under a tented canopy all cooked outside - with bird song and cicadas in the background. It  was a stunning setting and also a wonderful cause to contribute to in order that they can continue to care for the elephants.  
Definitely recommend a visit .

Walking with elephants and dining under the stars

We were here for about 3 hours over lunch. There’s also ‘Glamping’ if you seek an overnight stay. Set in a 180 acre organic farm, you can pet, feed and walk with the friendly, well cared for elephants. Go in a camel cart ride. Have a nice lunch. Relax and have a drink. Great service. Clean toilets. If you’re in Jaipur and you’re looking for a nature break, this is a great choice.

Wonderful Experience with Elephants and Camels

It was such a wonderful place for my 5 year old daughter to make a new friend while we were there.  They even took us for an amazing Trek over the sand dunes 

The warmth & hospitality of the family members Udaijit ji & Ripu ji reall made the difference
