I have travelled all over Central America and spent years in Honduras this place is amazing! There is nothing like it. Such a friendly community, rich on culture and history. The experience is incomparable. 2 hour bus ride 5$ or less from sps airport to tela the 5$ cab ride into the community! There is lots to do and see and learn. The Cabañas are beautifully humble and legitimately right on the beach! I will go back every year 💕💕💕

The Cabañas are very nice and well equipped. They are situated right at the beach. The whole area is familial and they make you feel like home! Miguel and his wife Ceci are very attentive and always ready to help. It‘s recommendable for any kind of travelers whether families, couples or singles.

I loved this place! Beautiful place, beautiful people! 
I wanted some peace to write and relax on the beach. Stayed in a cabin with bathroom and a terrace overlooking the sea with hammock. 
Absolutely bliss! My ideal place is a rustic cabin in a tropical garden at the edge of the sea, so this was perfect for me! Loved it so much I spent 10 days here, which they accommodated really well, moving me into a different cabin for the last couple of nights.
Triunfo is a garifuna village, so the culture is quite unique. Everyone in the village was really friendly and chilled, and the beach was practically empty, and sea perfect for swimming. The nearest ATM and pharmacy and stores are in Tela, though the village has a few places for baleadas and an open-air bakery. Buses stop on the highway a short  taxi ride away
A couple of days before I arrived I dropped Miguel an email to book a room and he got straight back to me - gave me a great deal on the best cabin. He also gave me some good advice on how to arrive. I had to delay my arrival by a day as I was crossed the border to late to arrive and he was fine with that.
Miguel and Cecilia were so lovely to chat to from time to time and also gave me a lift to Tela to withdraw cash and to get the bus. Elisa gave me hot water for my cafetiere each morning, which was really kind (yes I have a special travel cafetiere as I love coffee - especially central american stuff!)
I had such a lovely time, and would absolutely recommend this if you want some peaceful time in beautiful place.

when you go to Tela, which is a very touristic place, and you don't want to stay on the normal route, go in this amazingly nice place. the place is far from the city, but is surrounded by the nature and at 50m from the sea. the room are nice and clean, the staff is super nice and available for trips in the near forest (where we saw Howler Monkeys and other cool creatures!). the place is super typical, go out for a walk in the streets with no fear even in the evening

Coco Cabañas is located some 10 minutes away from Tela, but that is nothing compared with your freedom at this hotel. A perfect place for young travelers, like backpackers or a friend group as this hotel is basically a home for you to live in. We stayed for 4 nights with a group of 6 friends from Thursday until Monday.

Miguel, Alejandra, and Margarita were very nice since the beginning and I enjoyed talking and spending time with them. They were very helpful for every question or need we had.

This is an ecohotel, so don't expect it to be all luxurious. Miguel himself helped in the building and these are made from plastic bottles with adobe. We had a couple of problems with electricity and the kitchenette faucet, but the staff was always available to help out. You can take all the food you want to cook it over there, you'll have a fridge and a small gas stove. Any utensils you might need are available if you ask (we were able to get a blender!)
I loved that the beach was a few steps away from the main door, and it is a very quiet and private place. There are numerous "pulperias" (small convenience stores) located near the hotel to buy anything you forget in the supermarket. There are also two local restaurants nearby to try out, and at night there is a small terrace bar where locals dance and drink on weekends.
I would totally recommend Miguel's Coco Cabañas to anyone who looks for an alternative to Tela hotels. Be advised, you will have to endure some problems but if you're willing to ask for help then you'll be ok.
For families with kids and/or elderly people: these cabins are great but for some people, they can be somewhat uncomfortable. Take this into consideration when looking for your vacation spot.

I stayed at Coco Cabanas with my boyfriend, we took a 2 nights - 3 day pack with breakfast included and we had a wonderful time, the place is beautiful and the people is extremely friendly.  

Customer Service
They made us feel at home as soon as we got to Tela. Cecilia who is the person who guided us the whole way was fantastic. She is in charge of everything, did our reservation, helped us with transportation info (both before and after our stay at the hotel), she would not just make our breakfast but she would bring it to our room, she also helped us around with activities to do during our stay....  

We also met Gregory, he drove us from the bus stop the the hotel and back. He greeted us with a huge smile on his face and gave me some food related info about Tela that I really appreciated. 

Facilities
Our room was really clean and comfortable, the mattress was nice, there were moskito nets in the beds, we had hot water (not that is necessary, but's there) and huge balcony with a swing and a hammock in front of the ocean to ourselfs though I had seen some pictures onilne of a cabin and they it seemed a little bigger, I was hoping to have at least a kitchenette and we didn't. You can rent a burner for extra L.100 a day.

Overall Tela  
The Garifunas are awesome, they love starting conversation in the streets, They offer a nice variety of food that it is not just absolutely delicious but extremely cheap. The streets are full of fruit trees, it is really safe and even the dogs in the street seem so happy! The beach was clean and never packed with with people.

A Happy Place in Paradise! The perfect spot for those who enjoy small towns and travel on a budget.

I have mix feelings about this place. We stayed two nights, in two different cabins as we were 6. Upon arriving it was a shock. Cabins are literally eco. They are poorly made. They are not tight seal, and we had little creatures visiting. It is exactly what you see in the pictures. Rooms can be a little cleaner as well.
 There is also kids running free around the hotel and they are very pushy. At times it felt overwhelming so many kids asking for food and money.

In the other Cecilia is the best host out there. She always had a smile, and very happy to help us get comfortable. We would ask her for directions and she actually take us to places. She also had coffee ready twice a day for us as we are heavy coffee drinkers.

I would probably stayed with them again but not in a group. The town is very safe as well. The beach is walking distance, and you can see and hear the waves in the morning.
