El Peregrino Hotel Y Restaurante

Reasonable hotel with a central location on Flores island.  Twin room I had contained two decent beds,  ceiling fan,  TV, and bathroom,  as well as window overlooking a small street.
 Did not purchase any food here,  so do not know if food is available or good,  but there are plenty of places to eat nearby if not. WiFi available. 
I enjoyed my night here and would probably stay again. 

I walked into this hotel with no reservation at 10 am. I usually book and review my hotels I've stayed at through booking.com. But I really wanted to leave a review on this hotel. They were so nice at the reception. Said I could move my stuff in immediately even though check in wasn't until 1 or 2 pm

A nice hotel

I stayed solo 2 nights in a double room with air conditioner (paying extra for that). It wasn't my choice hotel but only found it at 7 pm after checking the one I wanted down the street was full.

My room 302 was on the second floor and it looked average with average bathroom. Air conditioner was cool and that was most important after my 14 hours of travelling from Copan Honduras. I paid roughly Q170 at that time for a night. There is a roof top where I could hang my washed clothes. It has a good view of the lake.

This place is a bit noisy until 10pm+ mainly coming from courtyard downstairs where restaurant is located. The hotel has US news channel to get update on the international news.

Try elsewhere in my next visit.

Budget stay with average quality

This is definitely a fine budget option no doubt about that.

The pros: good location (but everywhere on Flores pretty much is), decent sized room and if you stay a few nights you can get breakfast included.

The cons: super noisy - the central courtyard which extends the height of the building doesn't help - we thought it was neighbours with TV really loud but turns out it was the staff on the ground floor, blocked shower meant shower in unison was pretty impossible - hardly the end of the world but such an EASY fix which would really change impressions, fan was super turbo but had to turn it off for fear it would fly off the ceiling as it was very loose.

It was crazy hot here but that is just the area - not the hotels fault. It was an ok place, nothing awful...we just felt some really small improvements could make a huge difference and that there are definitely better options around Flores.

Grand but uninspiring

Where to go from that? Happy to be alive. Have been using electrical Guatemalan showers for many years - not without some small amount of concern, and the standard little buzz of the hand once in a while, but who ever complains of that? This was different. I got zapped in the head from the actual heating element in the shower head. Ow! And then my friend got electrocuted through the arm, tingling most unpleasantly for a while after. 

Not really sure I want to give other comments than this. The hotel actually was quite OK. Apart from being electrocuted and instilled with the fear of death. 

Tried explaining this "misfortune" to the management, in a polite way, but not sure if they took it on board.

We stayed for a couple of nights as all hotels in Flores seemed to look the same and had the same price. We got a double room with private bathroom, which looked really nice at the beginning. When we wanted to sleep we found so much hair from other people in the bed, the floor wasn't really clean as well, my towel was dirty and during our whole day the cleaning lady never came to our room. Not even for emptying our waste in the bath or cleaning the floor. 
Another disadvantage is the restaurant on groundfloor. The food they serve is okay, but they start working at 7am and stop at 10pm, as the rooms are bad soundproofed there is no chance of sleep without earplugs and even then it's difficult. 

During our first night there were some drunken locals outside the hotel and played loud music from 1am on. There is no nightguard in the hotel who we could ask for help so we had to deal with it by ourselfs. We asked them to be quiet but forget it. Finally the police we called could stop them at 3am. But there is a 24hour supermarket next to the hotel so I don't think that this was the first time this happened. 
I wouldn't stay here again.
