Chaltunha Hostel Flores Island

The time spent at Chaltunha was amazing! Niel is really attentive and provides us with good advice and services.
The bungalows are located in a large and really nice garden. You can also enjoy remarkable facilities like a swimming pool and a terrace, both with views of the Isla de Flores!
Everything was perfect!

The hostel is in San Miguel, a 3min Boat ride from Flores. Boats are readily available all day for 5Q and can be ordered by Neil any time to get into Flores. He even gave us the 2-min ride down to the shore at 5am. The place is incredible with a cold pool against the heat, nice bungalows and a cute baby dog. Amazing view over flores and surroundings from the terrace or the pool. We were happy to have dared to leave the city for this. Would definitely stay there again, rather than in the city!

Amazing place!

Very kind owner, beatiful, peaceful place

***This hostel is not on Flores !!! *** 

It is a short boat ride from Flores and last boat is at 10pm. The real location should be shown on the map, not Cafe Ukka which was very misleading. We were picked up by a lovely man called Mario who seems to be the gardener there.
The owner was friendly and helpful - we were very sick for 2 days and he was really helpful during that and kindly took us to the pharmacy. However, he was hardly around and there is no reception at the hostel or a restaurant and there is almost nothing on the island. The rooms really need some re-doing, the shower was terrible (no hot water), no hand soap, no lights leading the 30 metre path to the rooms and wifi doesn't reach any of the rooms either. 
With a beautiful view over Flores, and it being family run- the hostel has potential to be really nice and homey, however we felt a little bit more of a burden than guests to be honest.  


Hostel needs a lot of work

Unfortunately, as I just read in the few posts before mine, the same thing happened to me. I spent a great couple of days at Chaltunha Hostel. Neil, the owner, was so extremely helpful and super friendly. I really thought the best of him. But now, as I'm back home, I realised, that USD 60 have been charged on my credit card 2 months later. Despite having paid the full amount in cash just when I arrived! At the time of my check in, Neil accepted cash only and never seemed to have any change at hand. Back then, I didn't think much about it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a stay at Chaltunha anymore.

Credit Card charged but already paid

We have been there for a few days in April 2017. Now, 2 month later the Chaltunha charged our Credit Card 60$. Fortunately Mastercard blocked immediately the creditcard. 
By the way, the restaurant was closed, no food available. It looks like "On the descending branch".
The best was the swimming pool and the view to Flores.
