Fabulous hotel; friendliest family-run-hotel I've ever stayed in. And I chanced upon a time with there were German musicians playing traditional music each evening with Adonis, the young son of the family. WOW. 

Longing to return

Hot off the ferry from Chora Sfakion, we needed a room for two nights and thought Calypso looked promising. We were welcomed warmly and shown a room. We knew immediately that Calypso was perfect for us - very clean, comfy bed and a shady balcony for enjoying the sea view.
Two days later after great walks up the gorge and to the castle, great local food and wonderful swims, we didn’t want to leave, so we stayed 2 more!
Air con was great but even better was sleeping with it off by the light of the moon and stars,  listening to the sigh of the waves on the beach below.
We will be back next year. Thank you for the warm welcome, fresh and tasty food, the lovely room, advice on walks and some fantastic lyre playing in the evening. 
Calypso is so correctly named - we felt like Odysseus so content with Calypso that he didn’t want to home.

Excellent room, welcoming hosts

We stayed here 5 years ago ando loved it so much we wanted t
o stay again on our month tour of Crete. This is, without doubt the best place we have stayed. Recently refurbished the rooms are of the highest quality and standard of finish. Well designed an thought out with all amenities you could want. The comfiest beds with mattress protectors etc. Hygiene and cleanliness is clearly very important to this family run business. We ate in their taverna and again the food was outstanding with much farmed or grown in the village. This is a most friendly and gracious family with a lovely warm welcome. We will most definitely be back here again. I would rate it higher than 5* 

Simply the Best

Rooms are clean, recently renovated, if you take one of the front ones you sleep listening to the gentle waves all night! Antonis takes care of everything, you don’t have to worry about dinner or breakfast or sea taxis or which beach to visit the next day. We spent two wonderful, much deserved restful days after coming down the gorge.

This small hotel was clean, comfortable and had a lovely view of the sea, the mountains, and someone's washing (LOL). Seriously though, it was comfortable and a great place to stay when hiking the Samaria Gorge. Walking distance to the park entrance/exit and to many little shops and restaurants, as well as the rocky beach.

Nice room with a view

Comfortable, pleasant rooms at low cost in October. Good WiFi. Quiet after 6 pm. Friendly owner. Good local dishes in the restaurant. I had hiked from Sougia, very hot for hiking ! In the morning I started at 7 am for the Samaria gorge uphill till the Kallergi mountain hut;  completely alone in the gorge till 9:40 am.

Perfect night stay for hikers

Loved the owner and his family.  Rooms were great.  We loved this hotel.  Beyond clean and very modern.  I would stay here if I came for an extended period of time.  Breakfast was wonderful.  Rooms were clean and very modern....really loved our room!!!

Great hotel.......great experience

I have stayed here on a number of occasions, gradually increasing the length of time I stay.  
I stayed in a room with a balcony at the side, which gave me a good view of the sea and mountains.  The room was spacious and clean, and the en-suite shower room was spacious, clean and with an efficient shower and plentiful hot water.
Breakfast included delicious home-made preserves, which is something I always appreciate as I, too, make my own jam and marmalade.  The dinner menu offers an interesting range of dishes prepared with local produce, which are always fresh and well-presented.
This is a family-run business which takes pride in the standard of service it provides and is always very welcoming.  I hope to be able to make more visits in the future.

Another year, another stay - but longer this time

Had a fantastic two night stay here.  Rooms above restaurant are really lovely - clean, good mattresses, nice bathroom.  Food in restaurant is terrific - we ate there a lot, reasonable, fresh, great hosts.  Definitely would return and highly recommend !!

Top marks for food and service during the Mother's Day Buffet Lunch. We got our money's worth and the staff is just great. There was a vast selection of food. Well done. We shall visit the Hotel again.
