We arrived at 10pm 10/9 and were ushered straight upstairs for a welcome meal. (It seems there was a huge fire next to the hotel, but we were unaware of it. We were assured the next day that we’d been quite safe. The Tui rep Sam had stayed up all night to monitor what was happening for our safety. We left on the 21/9 there was an earthquake in the morning, which was an experience! Both fires and earthquakes are common apparently).
We were taken by car to our room. There is a fridge, but it’s empty! Not even a bottle of water! We were so thirsty after our long journey. 
The room was lovely with a sea view and a pool. The pool goes across six rooms and there’s a sort of unwritten rule you don’t swim past other people’s rooms, which I was happy about, people respected your privacy.
On closer inspection there were parts of the room/pool that could have been cleaner. Also the walls were a bit thin, we could hear our neighbours whenever they were in. Arguments were entertaining, ha!
This hotel is built on a cliff, I see people moaning about that on here, but it clearly states that in many places, ie, website etc. I’m in my 60’s and climbed the steps several times daily to our room (620) I definitely came home fitter!
Ok, soooo all inclusive it is not. Here’s things you have to pay for if you want them…
Branded drinks, any drinks after 11pm, games, snooker etc, safe, ice cream out of meal times, cocktails, water, Iron, kettle. 
Tip re water, buy a bottle of water from their shop and when needed get it refilled at the bar free, they’re happy to do this. 
You need to take, beach towels, shampoo and conditioner. There’s also a tourist tax, payable on arrival.
There are feral cats here, mostly kittens, all looking very hungry! Many are friendly. I just hope they’re getting looked after somehow now the hotel is closed for 7 months over the winter. 
Entertainment is ok. It’s not every night, that suited us fine. 
You can get the free hotel mini bus to Skala if you want a change of scenery/entertainment/food, day or evening. We spent a nice morning there. 
Food I found fine for a 3 star hotel. I’m not a big meat eater usually but the lamb, beef and pork was particularly delicious. Dining room staff were very efficient and friendly. 
Although there were all age groups here, the majority of people I’d say were over 50. Everyone was really friendly and lots of friendships were made.
Definitely go to the cove, beautiful water and great for snorkelling. Wear beach shoes. 
I’d recommend going to the welcome meeting where you will get lots of useful tips and meet the lovely Tui rep Sam. Lovely friendly helpful guy. He’s there all day every day and also does a great quiz night! 
So now you have lots of info on what to expect… so no more moaning! Haha! 
We knew most of the above before we got there, so no big surprises, so I’d say do your research before booking a holiday. 
I enjoyed our time there. Would I go again? Yes! But I’d want the same room. We had the sun on our terrace and pool from sunrise to after 6pm. That was absolutely perfect!

All Inclusive? Hmm

The hotel is gorgeous and love how all the apartments are separated. Although I do not recommend it for disabled or invalid people as the walk is super high up if your apartment was high up. However the rooms with pools were in a row so you did not have a private pool. The food was good but the same everyday, it was made for English people. Bacon, eggs, cereal and more. Although the staff are super nice and if they did not speak your language they would try their best and smile. The attractions in Kefalonia is gorgeous you would just need to rent a car. There’s two pools separated but they weren’t as full as you would expect them to be. There is many bars around that you can order around anytime, and a snack shack that has many foods and is open until lunch or dinner I can’t remember. There is a bus that takes you to Skala (A city 10 minute drive away) where you can visit a beach, rent a car, go out for dinner and more. Overall the hotel is gorgeous but there was no entertainment apart from a quiz from a TUI guide one day set up for once again just English people, and karaoke one day. I loved the views around but it was just the entertainment, food and the walk up to your room that was disappointing.

Some of the reviews offered about this hotel are i think fabricated. my wife myself and brother and sister inlaw stayed here also my niece.We found the hotel to be nothing like the bad reviews i have read on trip advisor, we had a great stay the sun shined everyday it was a comfortable temperature ,the pool water wasnt to wet, the food was good drinks pleantiful and staff very pleasant and freindly i would definatly put the hotel on the top of my many holiday visits.

great time had by all

I would love to have written this review differently however our experience at this hotel was probably the worst holiday experience we have encountered.  Skala is beautiful, with lots of lovely restaurants and bars .. the swim up room beautiful had we felt able to use it. If there are any issues don’t expect them to be dealt with by the Hotel or Tui which pass the buck. Something to think about there  are no security staff around to deal with issues up cliffs that do and did occur … for which we would not recommend or return …

Couples stay

Would have given zero stars If I could, food was the only decent thing. Pictures on the TUI website are not representative of where you will be staying. Logged a complaint with rep and nothing done. I can only describe the hotel as a prison with all of the rules they put in place like leaving the zircon on if you are nit in the room. The list is endless and I really can't be bother to list them all as the list would be the size of a novel.

Awful Stay 

The existing reviews of the hotel are very informative so I haven't much to add. I notice the contradictions in the reviews so I'll try to stay factual and helpful here. We stayed in one of the top of the hill rooms. It was wonderful - peaceful, large and with a beautiful high view across the Ionion Sea. The sun and moon rises were stunning (East facing so no sunsets). The downside is that there are 120 steps to climb to get between the room and the pool/reception. We saw it as useful exercise. It also helped you to be organised: you had to plan ahead to limit the number of climbs back to the room. You do have to plan thoughtfully in order to do well in this hotel. We didn't mind doing that.

The room itself was clean and spacious. The bathroom was large enough to learn a few dance steps (as long as the instructor didn't mind standing in the bath). There was a fridge and a sofa too. The fridge seemed to be the only item that stayed on when our card was not in its slot. You can hire a kettle from reception. We took our own. Fresh milk can be bought from the small hotel shop.

Wi-fi was very good in the central area of the hotel, but it didn't reach to our room at the top of the hill. I guess we were beyond its range. Rooms lower down probably have decent reception. The hotel does not guarantee wi-fi beyond the pool/bar/reception level.

Food was brilliant. You COULD eat pizza and chips the whole time if you wanted. We didn't. We were there for two weeks and we never tired of the food. There was loads of Greek food and we were delighted with that. Wednesday nights were 'Greek' night, which meant even more Greek than usual, and those nights were stunning for food choice and quality. I think many guests overlook the soups which were great. All the food was well presented and - something you can never take for granted in hotel buffets - HOT.

Staff were courteous, helpful and efficient. If you engaged them then they were friendly too. They weren't wildly friendly the whole time, but who needs that, really? They did a hard job very well and happily. The TUI reps were very good - helpful, informative, always available.

The location of the hotel - built up a hill - means that it is like a steep small campus.  It meant that we had to go outside a lot just to move from place to place. I enjoyed that but I suppose it might not suit everyone. The hotel is about a 35 minute walk into Skala (you can book a free ride on the minibus) so you are quite cut off, very dependent on the hotel for food, entertainment, etc. It did mean we got a bit bored in the evenings, especially as some nights there is no entertainment. We learned quickly and found things to entertain ourselves though. There are no daytime activities by the way - none of the quizzes, aqua aerobics and so on that you come across in other hotels. That was fine by us: we placed greater value on peace and quiet. The hotel is definitely peaceful.

The hotel bars were perfectly adequate for us. We aren't big drinkers and we were quite happy with the wine, water, coffee, and the occasional (not very good but perfectly drinkable) lager and gin and tonic.

When we were back up the hill on our room terrace there was quite a lot of wildlife to enjoy - moths, butterflies, swallows, lizards, and - once - a pod of dolphins passing along the coast.

Although the hotel is quite isolated, there is a beautiful little cove just along the road where you can swim amongst thousands of fish. It really is lovely. The sea is so clear that when you stand in it and look down it's like looking through rippled glass. Mesmerising. From directly outside the hotel it is also possible to catch a bus (this needs planning as buses are rare) to the port of Poros or to the 'capital', Argostoli, where you can watch the turtles in the harbour.

You know, I think I could happily live at the San Giorgio!



Peaceful, clean and with wonderful food.

A lovely hotel, stayed in room 231 - spacious, big bed which wad comfortable and huge balcony with an amazing view of the sea and pool.  
The staff were all friendly, offered a bus service to the higher rooms, and a free mini bus into skala.
We walked into skala and back a few times, only took around 35ish minutes, was a good walk too. 
Pools are great, 3 of them, plenty of sun loungers. Food was good and varied, found on 2 occasions that the lunch time offered better dishes than the evening. 
All inclusive drinks were absolutely fine, and the local rum was pretty good. 
All in all, a great stay set back in a peaceful location. 

A great stay

Firstly I need to address the negative reviews.

“Unclean” “rude staff” “awful”

Were these people staying at the same hotel i’ve just returned from? 
We have just had a week at San Giorgio & stayed in 1 of the swim up rooms (631). First thoughts, immaculate (pristine) & very very modern. 
Walking straight out of the doors to a pool was an amazing addition. 

Location- The hotel is located on a hillside, this is clearly stated at time of booking, as is the distance to the main centre of Skala (3km). This wasn’t a surprise to us as we had read this before hand, nor was it an issue. 
The hotel provides a free shuttle to & from Skala centre & a little minibus will take you to your rooms if you are higher up the hill. 

I genuinely don’t understand the mentality of some people, all of the above is stated at booking so why moan about it when you know what you’re dealing with?

Staff- super friendly. I assume if you behave like a prat & are rude towards them then you’re not going to get the friendliest of welcomes. However we have nothing but praise for them.
The housekeeping staff are on the go non stop. 
The restaurant staff work so hard to ensure the area is kept spotless.

Restaurant & Bar- the food is lovely. Its warm & fresh with a good variation each day.
Unfortunately for the moaners there isn’t chicken nuggets & pizza….but we are in Greece after all. 
The drinks at the bar aren’t great, this I feel is the only thing that lets this place down.
The soft drinks are fine, the white wine is actually lovely but everything else is just ok. 

Would I stay here again? Absolutely 100% yes. 

Fantastic week

Okay, so I read the reviews before booking and yes, they are a mixed bag and I can see both sides…but ultimately, it’s average.
We stayed in a swim up room (620), at the top of the hill and on the corner. The interior is new and fresh, the beds very comfortable. The air con was very poor, despite being on the highest setting. The sink is opposite the bed, which is a little odd, and can be a tad awkward (and quite near to a plug point).
The shower is good, but ours was in desperate need of a good clean. The safe, weirdly you have to pay to use…which is a first for us with using ‘all-inclusives’..
The room has a fridge, but will only work when your key card is in the slot. Additionally, there is no water s for us was a major disappointment. We arrived late and it was probably after 11pm when we got to our room…and so, middle of the night (first night), we were desperately thirsty and nothing to drink.
There is a shop down near the pools, if you haven’t got a refillable bottle, get a 1.5L water bottle for €1 and once you’ve drunk it, get it refilled at any of the bars for free.
Outside the room, as we had a corner room (right hand side), we got the sun all day long (6pm). We had 2 chairs and 2 sun loungers meaning we could sunbathe there all day if we wanted. The swim up pool isn’t actually that, it’s basically one pool which stretches the length of the block of rooms, meaning there isn’t much privacy in the pool. The pool itself is nice, but our end was constantly full of flies, leaves, litter and the interior tiled side wall inside the pool was covered in green tide marks. I’m not sure if the pool has filters, or if they were working, but the cleanliness wasn’t the best.
Other reviews have already pointed out the steepness of the resort, and I agree, if you’re not fit or have mobility issues, then use the car from reception…but, there are a LOT of steps everywhere around the resort, so bear this in mind before booking.
As for the food was okay, but probably caters too much for the UK tourist. Salads were nice, and I’d especially recommend the belly pork when it’s on the menu. The alcohol was okay, but not brilliant…there were cocktails (but you had to pay for them weirdly), there were also branded drinks (but again, you have to pay for them).
The pools are okay, and because there was always someone going home, we never had a problem getting a sun lounger. My only concern was when getting out of the pool, the steps/hand rails were nearly all wobbly and felt dangerous.
The resort also doesn’t provide pool towels, the first all-inclusive resort I’ve been too which doesn’t.
I’d recommend going down to the local water is crystal clear and very calm. Snorkelling is very easy down there. However the steps aren’t the easiest to get up and down, but it’s definitely worthwhile.
Overall we had a nice holiday, but it has the potential to be so much better.
Final shout out to the TUI rep Sam who was excellent.

The not so inclusive, all inclusive…

Stayed late September 2023. The hotel is built into the hillside and has a sharp incline to get to reception. San Giorgio is run with great efficency, all the hotel staff are constantly working and kept busy to ensure the needs of the guests are met. The staff are all pleasant and friendly. Food is of a good standard but does become repetitive as the days roll on. Great views over the sea. Walked into Skala most days, (40 mins walk) either for the beach, shopping or eating out. There is a delicious patisserie half way to Skala, which is excellent value. Room was a little basic, the safe was located in an unusual place at ground level and you had to be a contortionist to access it. The plumbing in Greece is also not like UK. We would have hoped for a larger balcony, It was very small (314). Perhaps also some more thought  needed for room allocation, without sounding like oldies (we're in our 40's) a group of young males arrived in identical shirts on our last couple of days and must have been allocated the room above, it felt like they were coming through the ceiling until 2:30am for the last 2 nights. More planning around room allocation for those wanting a relaxing and quiet break i would suggest. These are minor points, this is a great hotel with a relaxing vibe and very  friendly staff who even get involved in the entertainment for the benefit of the guests which is a nice touch. You won't be disappointed if you book, we would certainly consider a return visit.
