After the sunny hustle and bustle of Platanias arriving in Anatoli was like dipping in cool water after a hot day. The silence broken only by the sound of swallows and buzzing bees, the vastness of starry sky after the sunset.

Smaragda house is like a small gem, beautifully restored, excellently suited for a couple. In the kitchen there's everything you need to cook and the bedroom is cool and quiet.

And there's much to see and do in and around Anatoli village, whether you like outdoor activities or cultural and historical sights.

We were taken by the warm and welcoming people of the village and of course the heartwarming kindness of Ioanna herself. We will be coming back next October and this time enjoying a longer period of the peace and silence, as well as the mountain paths and the gorges in the vicinity. Can hardly wait!

A mini holiday in a beautiful and cosy Smaragda House

Smaragda House is a beautifully renovated Cretan stone house that is wonderfully furnished and decorated. It has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay and was spotless. The view from the rooftop patio is incredible and also a good view from the downstairs patio where we enjoyed our meals. There is a very informative booklet in the house that provides detailed information about nearby beaches, sights to see, restaurants and tavernas. The owner was most helpful in answering our questions about the history of the village.  We totally loved our stay and the many places to visit and excellent beaches.

Wonderful stay in Smaragda House!

A unique place for those who value the opportunity to spend time in peace, tranquility and even isolation from the hustle and bustle of modern life, at the same time not too far from this world and civilization. The essence of the Mediterranean climate and surroundings at the meeting point of the mountains and the sea. A stone house providing a comfortable stay for 2 - 6 guests in the setting of a traditional Greek village, whose history dates back to Byzantium or beyond. Good, fresh, healthy food available. Endless walking or hiking routes among olive groves or wild mountain landscapes. Typical Cretan beaches within 15-20 minutes by car on a good mountain road. I feel sorry to leave...

Essence of the Mediterranean climate and life

Away from the touristic routes, Anatoli is a small, calm village, full of history. Unlike most of Cretan villages, Anatoli has preserved its architecture: stone houses, many of which are renovated, small paths and picturesque churches. 

Pasiphae is a spacious double floored house in the center of the village, renovated with care and love. It can easily accommodate 8 people and it has all the amenities one might need. The main advantage of the house is its terraces, allowing for amazing views towards the sea all day long. The owners have been very helpful and all in all it's been a memorable stay. We'll definitely go back! 

A hidden jem in the south of Crete

Beautiful house even more stunning than on the photos. Great layout, well equipped in an amazing setting. If you like quaint villages and peace : Pasiphae house is for you! 
You host will make sure that you have a good stay and will advise you on places to see etc. Hence our first visit to Crete was perfect. Thank you Ioanna!

Polite and helpful owner but, cramped and dusty apartment, some power outlets not well fitted in the wall, many power strips that were easily accessible by kids, worn out shower tap and cord, low lightning in the bathroom, couldn't get the tv to work

Family vacations in Smaragda apartment

We had telephoned the booking company and specifically said we had to be able to take our pet dogs and they needed to be allowed inside with us. We were told absolutely the hosue was pet friendly. When we arrived after. 4 hour journey we were told by the owner she would have said no but because we had paid they could stay but on,y on their beds inside. We were made to feel very uncomftable about the dogs. The floors were very dirty, you couldn't walk barefoot or your feet were black. No mobile reception at all in the village which should be mentioned. The house was nice, small smell of mould but had wifi, the photos showed more out side space but we had one small courtyard. No keys for the gates which probably led to other areas. The village is very run down, one small shop and one taverna, the local people were very lovely and with my small amount of greek was able to communicate but it is a greek village and not much English. The local dog chained up, surrounded by his excrement which was never cleaned and his nails we so overgrow, misery on a chain. His so called father would not allow me to touch him or feed. So with all these factors we decided to leave early the next morning and drive home. We made the excuse of work and all the owner was concerned about is that we had paid the full amount. It wasn't a good experience for us but if you just want a small house to sleep and relax then it's good. Not pet friendly and not worth the price asked.
