the room was perfect, in an old house from 1600, windows overlooking the square and the St.Nikolai church. Perfect location,  all the amenities and a kitchenette, parking spot. Delicious breakfast included and inexpensive.

Stayed here back in August for one night while travelling across Europe.

The guest house is beautiful, lovely décor and so many warm homely touches. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was fantastic. Lots of different choices all laid out with different types of bread, meats and cheeses. 

Location is fantastic, right in the heart of gorgeous Quedlinburg. 

Have lovely memories of this place and would definitely go back if I return the the area.

Beautiful traditional guesthouse

We came by bicycle and spent one night, which we booked through the Tourist Information Office on arrival in Quedlinburg. Unfortunately, the price increased by Euro 10 once we arrived from the Tourist office (we were told the change occurred because the only room available for one night was a suite with kitchenette). However, we decided to take it anyway (after viewing the room) and did not regret it. The room was on the top floor (#12), very spacious and appeared quite new. The bedroom had a large window to the courtyard, and the bed was very comfortable. A very good and generous buffet breakfast was included, great selection, and plenty for two hungry bicyclists; this was served in the adjacent restaurant. We also had dinner at the restaurant, which was excellent. There was space for our bicycles in the courtyard, which was locked at night. Overall, a very good choice and a comfy quiet night for us.

Beautiful Place with Medieval Courtyard

We spent one night at the Pension St. Nikolai during an extended family trip to Germany.  There were nine of us, and we booked one double, one triple and one quad room.  The pension is located on one of Quedlinburg's main squares -- not the main Rathaus Square, but one on the main church.  The town is immensely charming and was more beautiful than we'd even imagined.

The pension does have a small parking lot, but it was full by the time we arrived.  We found street parking nearby, and we were able to drive up to the front gate to unload bags.  The pension and associated restaurant are located in two linked -- and very old -- townhomes.  The whole setting is very charming.

The double room we had was very large, and located on the ground level, with a outside entry door across the restaurants outdoor seating area.  As such, there noise from the restaurant.  The front door has a large window pane, but a heavy inside curtain provides privacy from outside eyes.

We had two of the very large apartments on the very top floor.  It was technically the third floor, but the flights of stairs were of differing heights and located in both of the neighboring buildings, so it was a very interesting walk up and down.  If you are not, however, comfortable carrying bags up stairs, don't stay upstairs.  Even if you do, watch yourself while going up and down, as the stairs were tricky.

Both apartments were huge -- and beautiful; with exposed original beams, kitchen areas, and small living rooms.  Our room had a loft area, as well, with three single beds, in addition to a separate bedroom with a queen bed.  The other apartment had two separate bedrooms, with three beds in one room, and a double in the other.

The bathrooms were large and the showers were fine.

Our only complaint would be the noise.  It was hot during our stay, so we had to open all of the windows.  The room facing the rear had less noise, but the restaurant crowd was a bit boisterous.  The room facing the square, while enjoying a great view, was extremely loud, as several restaurants have seating areas on the square, and people were drinking and hooting it up until late into the night.  If you did not have to have the windows open, however, noise would not be a problem at all.

Breakfast was a nicely appointed buffet in the main restaurant, and was quite good.

This was a very memorable stay, only marred slightly by the noise and somewhat treacherous stairs.

Charming; Of a Different Time

This was our second stay at Pension St Nikolai.  This time we were in room #7 up 38 stairs.  The room was quite large, clean, nice, has a kitchenette (great for cooling my bier!) and a large bathroom that was very, very clean.  Our only complaint is one group of guests (second time this has happened) stayed up late in the courtyard restaurant drinking and making entirely too much noise well past midnight.  Extremely rude guests.  Other than that, no complaints about the pension.  Despite the stairs, no problems (if you have mobility issues, request a room on the ground floor) with the place.  The owner is very friendly and has learned much English in the last two years since we'd visited!  Breakfast was buffet and good with a good selection of meats, cheeses, breads, and so forth.

I hope next stay we'll have a visit onto the Sankt Nikolai kirche, although the church bells may be a bit loud.

If you are driving, request to reserve a parking space in the courtyard.  We didn't reserve and there's only 4 spaces which were all taken while we were there.  We were able to park about 100 meters away in Hotel Sonne's private/locked lot so we didn't have any issues.  The pension has bicycle parking inside the courtyard (yes, we had our bikes) which makes securing our bikes simple.

This is a wonderful pension; probably our favorite pension we've visited in Germany.

Lovely B&B in Quedlinburg

Overall, this is a nice place to stay with friendly, accommodating and helpful staff.  The rooms we had were not, as we expected in an old part of the building, but in a modern extension.  However,mthatnsiad, they were clean, warm, well-equipped and comfortable with free wifi.  The location is good, central without being noisy.  Excellent breakfast too.  Recommended!
