At a walking distance of the old city of Guérande. Friendly welcome by our host who gave us great tips were to eat. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was amazing with different coffee, bread and ‘specials’ every morning. 

Great location & friendly people

My partner Karen and I stayed at Maison Bizienne for one week at the beginning of September. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a sizeable ensuite and a view over the lovely garden. The only downside was no air con in this particular room, but Bertrand (our very charming and considerate host) managed to find a fan for us to use. 

Breakfast was a delight every day, with Bertrand or his partner Antony providing details of the local ingredients used for the various breads, crepes, cakes, buns, brioches, jams and preserves that were served each morning, not to mention the different fruit juices, teas and coffees. Bertrand made most of the cakes and preserves himself and obviously enjoyed providing guests with an excellent breakfast experience setting out different tableware, china and cutlery each day.

My French is poor and neither Bertrand or Antony have great English, so our communication was often interspersed with references to dictionaries, but was always done patiently and with good humour. Bertrand also provided useful recommendations for places to visit away from Guerande (of which there are many within very short drives) and restaurants to eat at.

The hotel is located in a quiet street circa 50 metres from the Guerande city walls. Parking is on the street but there was never an issue finding a space immediately outside the property. 

Karen and I had a lovely week staying at Maison Bizienne, and if we were ever in this part of France would not hesitate to stay here again.

A Gem of a B & B

Rooms clean tastefully decorated. comfortable bedding, separate shower and wc all ensuite. Evening tapas with choice selection of local wines in a quiet secluded garden.  Bertrand's home made rillets an aperçu of the culinary delights we were met with at breakfast the following days: homemade and local produce mouthwatering and fresh.  Simply the best.   


Perfect attention to every detail

I have never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast due to the fact of privacy and being in someone's home.  This was my first and I was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were LARGE and it felt like we had our own apartment.  Rooms were super clean and extremely well decorated.  The owner even left a bag of salt as a gift.  I can tell, a lot of care and thought were put into everything to ensure that the stay is pleasant, comfortable and memorable.    I was given a key to come and go whenever.  Bertrand and his friend made sure that we had a comfortable stay and breakfast is one to remember.  They were full of good advice on what to see etc.  If ever you go to Guerande, i highly recommend this place.  They even have bikes you can borrow and ride. I think it is free. 

The Good:

- Large clean rooms that is superbly decorated to give an amazing feel. 
- Location is perfect. Two minutes walk to the old city and if you have a car, you may get parking in front of the hotel. Reserve this since it is one space. 
- Driving distance to the seaside and salt marshes and megalithic monuments. This monument is a must see. Amazing!
- Nice yard to just lay around and be lazy.
- extremely attentive and caring host who are not intrusive. I like this. 

The bad:
Wifi does not work well in the room i was in. Minor issue tho.

WOW - The best!!

We stayed here in April and had a wonderful time. The owners were lovely and very welcoming, despite the language barrier. We stayed in the Family Suite in the main house - the room was beautiful, so much attention to detail in the decor but still so cozy. Very shabby chic in the best possible way. We had ample room and the travel cot was perfect for our little girl. The owners even gave us a bottle of the local Muscadet and bags of the very famous Guerande sea salt, along with delicious salted caramels. Room very clean, beds all comfy, shower huge, lots of lovely towels and toiletries left out for us. Breakfast was stunning - the dining room itself was beautifully decorated but the food was heavenly. Homemade jams, breads, crepes, pain perdu, yogurts, even chocolate spread alongside local honey, juices, and absolutely gorgeous coffee. Our 2-year old loved the homemade yogurt and granola. I especially loved the coconut financiers served each morning!

The B&B was so close to Guerande centre - we found it very convenient for sightseeing around the town. Was also incredibly quiet at night, which is a bonus when travelling with small children. Very good base for overall Marais Salant sightseeing as well. We got lots of info from the owners regarding day trips including the beautiful Pen Bron beach, Batz-sur-Mer and Le Croisic. The region is so beautiful and very quaint!

Highly recommend this region of France and highly recommend La Maison Bizienne.
