At first, arriving at Waidroka was a bit overwhelming—my friend and I had just endured a very long car ride, and as soon as we walked in, we were met with a flurry of questions and introductions. While we understood why, it was just a bit much after a long journey. However, once we got to our room and settled in, everything changed for the better!

The staff at Waidroka are truly exceptional. One of my favorite things that I didn’t expect to love was their family-style dining setup. You end up meeting and bonding with everyone staying there, sharing stories about your day over meals. It created a lovely, friendly atmosphere, and I genuinely looked forward to every mealtime.

We were there primarily for diving, and wow—what a treat! The diving is stunning. Jamie and Grant, the incredible dive instructors, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more. While we weren’t surfers, we occasionally joined the surf boat for a cruise or even a dive and surf combo trip. Tim, the surf guide, was fantastic—whether on the water or challenging us to pool matches (he beat us almost every time, but we were able to get in a few wins!). His jokes, even when we heard them multiple times, were always funny, and how he still laughed at his own jokes made them better.

Rosie, the resort's yogi, was the kindest, most loving person we met. In the nearly two months we stayed, Waidroka truly became a second home for us, and we became close friends with every single staff member. Mr. Mark and Pointy, who work on the grounds, were always so kind, offering fresh coconuts every time they saw us and even inviting us to their village for a wonderful experience.

Everyone at Waidroka—from the grounds crew to the general managers, who by the end of our stay were calling us their “children”—is so warm and welcoming. The staff genuinely love their jobs, and it shows in everything they do.

If I had one tiny complaint, it’s the mosquitoes—bring bug spray because you're in the rainforest, and there are lots of them! Another thing to keep in mind is that the water for the shower, sink, and toilet is straight from the river, so it can get a little murky, especially after rain. But these minor inconveniences are nothing compared to the overall experience.

The only Wi-Fi is in the main house, which could be slightly inconvenient, but it also gave us a chance to truly disconnect and enjoy the environment. If you're someone who likes to explore outside the resort, keep in mind that Waidroka is quite remote, so it can be challenging to get off property.

But honestly, the love and warmth you’ll experience at Waidroka makes it all worth it. We were there for two months, and I wouldn't trade the memories or friendships we made for anything. Highly recommend this place if you want a unique, beautiful, and welcoming experience!

Absolutely Amazing Stay at Waidroka Bay Resort!

Waidroka was exactly what I was looking for - beautiful, peaceful views, yummy food, a lovely mangrove tour, diving and freediving, and free yoga. The yoga was honestly the best guided yoga I've ever had, and I walked away feeling refreshed and ready to start a very busy month. 

Stay at this location if you're looking for the seclusion of a beautiful rainforest and ocean views. The staff were amazing and I had lots of good conversations - the other guests were also lovely to chat with. 

I'd stay here again any time!

- Lack of focus on safety on the dive boat. The dive ladder was not attached right. I saw this on our first dive and mentioned it to the captain and the passengers. Unfortunately, somebody from my group still got her finger crushed in the ladder. It turned out to be fractured and caused her to faint from the pain. However, there was no concern from the Waidroka management or assistance regarding receiving medical attention. They just told her to ice it. I later learned from somebody on the staff that a previous guest had lost a finger at that ladder.

Nice Resort but Safety Issues on Diveboat

My wife and I started our journey to Fiji here to surf and dive on our honeymoon, and we are so happy we did. Coming here depends on what you are looking for in a vacation - we love adventure (surfing, diving, fishing) all of which was provided and exceeded our expectations

Diving - Jamie and Grant are so fun to go out in the water with, extremely knowledgeable about the area and all the species. The reefs are like something you see on TV, untouched and so healthy with incredible marine life. The shark dive is a MUST and they will make sure you feel comfortable the entire time. 

Surf- Tim knows all the waves like the back of his hand. Depending on swell direction, wind, tide, he will make sure you find a wave. he will give you all the tools you need to get incredible waves. He will put you in the perfect take off spots, and take you surfing as much as your heart desires or your arms can handle. The man has decades of stories to tell from his own adventures so make sure to get to know him even if you’re not there to surf. 

Broader staff - everyone is amazing. It truly is a family there and when you are there the local staff, resort managers, owner (Boris), boat captains will make you feel like a part of their family. 

Every night after a day of activities we all sit down for family dinner, play pool, drink beers, chat for hours. Waidroka is like a mini paradise in the jungle, empty surf line ups, pure tranquility. The resort is designed to fully detach from one’s busy life and truly live in the moment. We have nothing bad to say about the place and can’t wait to return.

Paradise on the Fijian coral coast

The best place to go for a surf trip uncrowded waves! With the most beautiful local staff and a special shout out to Justine and Tim for there hospitality and going out of there way to make sure we got the best waves possible every day Vinaka I’ll be back ☺️

The best spot for a surf trip!

Very friendly staff and other guests remote location but lots of activities, including diving and surfing and snorkeling. Food from the resort is pricy so recommend buying some snacks to skip some meals if on a budget. Room I stayed was basic but had everything I needed and was spacious there was a mini fridge in room to keep my snacks. Pool is good, though I didn’t go he diving sounded great and has been highly recommended.

Relaxing accommodation plenty of activities

Waidroka is both a great place to stay and  has some truly magnificent scuba diving. Positives include the friendliness of EVERYONE associated with the resort, the dive team ( Gary & Kiera) who were not only  totally professional but went the extra mile to make sure we had magnificent dives, and the general way things went. A minor negative is that Fiji is at the end of a really long supply chain, and occasionally, things can take a little time to be fixed. I must say, though, that the important things, the dive & surfing gear, and the boats were really well maintained.

We came here for a quick 2 days diving. The resort is well positioned for Beqa Lagoon which has some great diving.  It also has some really nice house reef with good fish life. Both the resort staff and the dive operators are excellent - responsive, friendly and accommodating.
