The place was a pigsty. Dirty rooms and bathrooms, stained sheets, filthy walls, filthy toilet seat, decrepit furniture, the floor all dirty, everything had a layer of dust. In no way similar to the photos. The so called manager became incommunicable after payment, he wasn't waiting for us to hand over the keys, we had no breakfast, there were no towels (just two old stained and stinky pieces of cloth) - which would be delivered when the person responsible for breakfast came up but it never showed up and in the only response we had they said that such a person had had problems and after they had tried to hand over the towels but that we were not there to receive and that person did not have the key (HOW ?)
The floor creaked so that it seemed to crumble under our feet, the sound of the people above was deafening, preventing us from sleeping well, the strong smell of mold and lack of ventilation caused us allergies.
The whole place is falling apart and even the address isn't correct, there was no balcony, we didn't have the guts to try to use the few utensils in the kitchen so dirty it was. Terrible lodging, terrible employee, was absolutely horrible.

A Nightmare, the pictures don't show the reality

I have stayed there for two nights in two different Appartments. The first night in Suite 001 was a complete desaster. The Suite is on the ground and first floor. In the main bedroom on the first floor you can hear every step and every word the people above you talk in their living room. And also from outside on the street. It was occupied with five people and they stayed awake long and kept us awake. 
Moreover there was an extremely bad smell of the floor polish, which even stick to our clothes and the small windows did not help to get fresh air. One of th windows was broken and couldn't be shut. The next day we moved to Suite 004 on th top floor, which is actually a room without kitchen and the bathroom in the bedroom. Apart from that the room was ok. 
But then the next annoyance started. It had an electronic locking system, where you have to put a pin code to enter. Unfortunately the battery was low an we couldn't get in our room anymore as the owners where not there and the extra key was not available anywhere. 
We called the owners. They are not very friendly, didn't apologize, didn't call back when I asked to let us know when someone will come to let us in.
They showed very clearly on the phone that they do not wish to talk to us and that we are just an annoyance for them. We never saw them anyways. 
About an 1.15 after our first call someone came to break the lock. It took him another 30 minutes or so. So we lost 2 hours of the little time we had in Quito.
Afterwards we could not lock our room anymore.
The owners in general were extremely unfriendly, something very unusual for Equador. They never apologized or showed in any way concern for us. They only seem to be interested in your money.
I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Never again. Loud, smelly and unfriendly

This hotel was nice and the added bonus of the homemade breakfast each morning (someone literally came into the room to make it for us!) was a great personal touch.  We had the large suite on the top floor, so I'm not sure that applies to all rooms, but we appreciated it very much.  The building is old (of course!) but the rooms were very comfortable and well cared for.  The shower is super tiny, but-once I figured out how to work it-it did get very hot! The balcony was the best part of the room, with floor-to-ceiling windows leading out to it.  One block away was a street with several nice restaurants (we tried them all) and there are delicious pizzas and chicken wings to be had if you are so inclined.  The Grand Plaza is about a 15 minute walk away.  And David and Margaret were especially nice and helpful-we enjoyed being with them very much!

Old World Charm

We had a really strange experience staying here, they left us there with no way of contacting them, we were leaving early in the morning so they didnt supply breakfast for us, every other place we stayed at in our 4 weeks travelling catered for our early departure and gave us breakfast or left it for us to cook ourselves.
There was not enough towels for the 4 of us and no hot water and my son got an electric zap from the hot water heater above the shower, so be very very careful, I did email them about this but to this day they have not acknowledged it. 
Then finally to top it off we had arranged with the owner to pick us up at 5 am to take us to the airport but he never showed up or contacted us, As we had no contact details for him we were left helpless. Eventually after waiting over 30 minutes we carried all our luggage to the main road and got a taxi which was half the price he was going to charge us anyway and thankfully we didnt miss our plane. I emailed them when we got to our next destination and after 3 days they finally emailed me and said sorry something came up. Regardless of what the something was not getting in contact with us isnt really acceptable service. So dont us their transfer from the airport get a taxi instead for half the price.

very strange stay

My teen daughter and I stayed here for a week in July of 2017.  The staff was very understanding and helpful with our limited knowledge of Spanish. Once they found out that my daughter was going into her third year of Spanish, they slowed down and simplified the language. But, if she didn't know a word in Spanish then they would say the word in English and again in Spanish so she could learn.  By day 3, she could carry on a conversation with them! The staff also helped us with directions, taxis, the best places to find souvenirs, and restaurants. We got in quite late our first night so even though we slept past the breakfast cut off time, they were kind enough to make us breakfast an hour later, and it was delicious! The staff consisted of family and friends, as well as a friendly dog, so you felt like you were in a comfortable and safe environment the entire time. Our room was on the second floor and had a loft that looked down into the main room. Right outside the door you could see the entire city, and it was beautiful, especially at night! We had a small kitchen area which had cooking utensils and equipment. The living space was very roomy with a couch and a small dining room table with three chairs. The beds were comfortable and clean and very warm on the cool Quito nights.  There were very tall windows in the main living area that we opened during the day. LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!!

Close to everything, Wonderful view

Nice historical location in 100 year old house in good area for food and shopping. Nice old church and old buildings in the neighborhood. Nice people to deal with and a comfortable place to stay

Good location, easy access to restaurants

The apartment is really nice. The bed is great. The best bed in South America so far. They are really nice and help you if you have questions. The WIFI is also good. The price-performance is great. He also offers privat trips.
I can highly recommend this apartment.

Great apartment 

the hotel was very well located. very accesible to public transportation! it was a bit unkempt, cold, and kitchen was not well stocked with cookware. dishes and utensils were good. the staff was very pleasant. worked out well for my needs.

Quito, city center

Nothing in the description of this accommodation was available in our room. No oven, coffee/tea maker, full size regrigerator, phone, DVD player, continental breakfast, minibar. Dishes were limited to three small sandwich size plates and no utensils for cooking a meal. When I asked about the continental breakfast, I was told that there were eggs, milk, juice, bread and ham in the small refrigerator. Laundry facilities? The only thing we found was a laundry one block away, but nothing in the hotel. We were picked up from the airport and charged $30/person, when a taxi has a fixed price of $25 and we could have saved $35. The shower has warm water that comes and goes, but never actually hot. Limited house keeping means NO housekeeping.The only advantage I see is the location, being about a 10 minute walk to Old Town and close to bus routes. The pictures look nice and I reserved the room based on what I saw in the pictures and the amenities listed in the ad, but they were misleading at best.
