We (family of 3) stayed for 4 nights in the tortuga bay suite.  So I can only speak for the room we stayed and not sure how other rooms are as they are all different.  Overall, we are very disappointed and feel frustrated on our stay.  The room looks nothing like the pictures.  It is very small, dark, damp and hot with little space for luggages. The description says there is 32 inches LED TV, but there is no TV at all.  My husband and I with our 8 year old son are skinny people, but we feel nowhere to move in the room.  No counter space in the bathroom for toiletries at all.  When we first arrived, the ac wasn’t working. Although the host called the technician to fix it.  It was only better the first night.  For the rest of our stay, the ac only made loud noise but no cold air.  We asked to change room but we were told no room left.  There was a small window facing the bed on the wall between our room and the outside hallway. And The light was on every night until midnight, which makes the sleep impossible.  We WhatsApped the host to turn off the light, but the host never got back to us.  Also since the window next to the bed is right next to the busy street, it is extremely loud when every car passing by.  We almost wake up every hour with the noise and the light.  The only pro is the location which is 5 minutes walk to the town and the pier.  I wouldn’t pay $150 for this type of room.

Terrible experience

The Tortuga bay suite is right by the street so you hear the street noise until about 10:30pm on workdays and about 11:30pm on a Friday. The air conditioner doesn’t work well. It makes a noise at night and is quite disturbing. With the many mosquitoes, we could not open the windows and it was quite a terrible experience to sleep at night. The soap and shampoo/body wash are diluted. The fridge is incredibly noisy and you cannot sleep with it being on. The plates are dirty and require extra cleaning. Space is very small for a family of four and there isn’t much space for luggage. Oh, and there is no breakfast option (with pay) at all.

The hotel is very nice and well decorated with a lot of attention… also the owner was very nice with good recommendations…
but the AC was very noisy and the room is near the street so you can hear also noise from the street.. and also the double bed is very small and very hard so not very comfortable..

The place is located in a decent spot in the Puerto Ayora town, and the room I had (Cucuve) had everything as described.  Towels changed every day was a nice bonus.  Cucuve is a small room, not much space for anything beyond a bed.

As for the cons, there's multiple, which would have probably stopped me from choosing this place compared to everything else.

1. Deceptive pricing - I booked online through their own provided Cloudbeds website, and was quoted 74 dollars a night.  Upon arrival, I find that they "accept" credit cards, but tack on an additional 10 dollar fee per night, bringing me to 84 a night.  This is completely unknown until you get there.
2. Lack of provided water - After paying 84 a night, you are provided around 1 liter of water in a carafe, but are expected to go get your own.  I can understand if this was a budget hostel, but once again.
3. No breakfast included despite clearly advertising it - I booked through their own cloudbeds website, which clearly states free american breakfast.  However, upon arrival, Elena told me breakfast was not included and said that I paid a lower rate and don't get breakfast included as a result.

There's some benefits to this place, but my experience overall was thrown off by the increases in rates and lack of amenities that would have made me chosen an entirely different place overall.

Would not choose again as a solo traveler, maybe if you had a family and wanted to a kitchen, but even then, you're better off finding another place that has a kitchen and provides water and breakfast.

Decent location, fine accomodations, but deceptive practices

We stayed with Elena at the charming Casa Del Lago. This is a artistically designed small hotel, with comfortable rooms, wonderful spaces inside and out, close to the dock, fish market and an easy walk to the Charles Darwin Research Center, Tortuga Bay, etc.  The owner/hostess Elena worked for years in the United States, so is fluent in English and understands North American tastes.  She was very helpful in directing us to good restaurants, obtaining reliable and helpful taxi drivers, and in generally attending to our needs. The hotel itself is a one of a kind place with lots of creative tilework, "found" pieces of driftwood and other items for decorations, balustrades, etc. Two minor issues prevented a 5 rating for us: we had to obtain our own drinking water (the tap water in town isn't potable) and the full sized bed was too hard for our (old body) tastes. Still we greatly enjoyed our stay and recommend it!

Charming Hotel with Lots of Character and a lovely hostess!

Great hosts guiding us about Galapagos with good room and great ambience around the hotel.

What a fantastic find!   My family and I (2 kids) stayed here for 4 nights and loved it.  It’s so close to everything, so comfortable, great A/C, sufficient kitchen, very nice and accommodating (great English spoken here!) owners and excellent food.  I can’t say we’ve stayed at a much better place in the Galapagos (and we’ve been here for 3 weeks).  I highly recommend Casalago.  You won’t be disappointed.  The hosts, Daniel and Andrea are great people who run a great hotel.

Going to the Laguna de Las ninfas I stumbled across this gem at the corner. So on my way back I went there to have a look at the card. And then I was convinced.
After that, I had my breakfast there EVERY SINGLE DAY!
The Owners, Andrea and Daniel, are so incredibly friendly. It just felt like home there! Andrea even gave me some nice tipps, on what so visit on the island. Additionally they organized my collectivo back to the airport. 
I loved being at casa Lago every day!
And If you have the chance to book into the dinner there (they only offer for groups), do it! Andrea is a fantastic cook!! *_*
It was my culinary highlight in Puerto Ayro

I didn't sleep at the casa, but if I knew this place before AND if I could afford it, I would be there the whole trip!

My favorite Place in Santa Cruz

I absolutely loved staying at the Casalago! The owners are extremely hospitable, friendly, and speak very clear English. The two weeks I spent in the Galápagos Islands were even more enjoyable due to the homey Casalago. I would recommend this establishment to anybody!

You will not be disappointed!

We stayed at another accommodation but came to Andrea and Daniel three times for breakfast. All breakfast options are so delicious, they have the best coffee in Santa Cruz and the atmosphere is so nice. Andrea and Daniel helped us a lot in all our questions. We really enjoyed it here.
