This hotel is a destination by itself! The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable. We appreciated the hot water bottle tucked into bed at night to warm to warm the bed. The onsite restaurant was great and service was excellent. Our kids really enjoyed the llamas and the playground here.

More than a hotel!

Stayed one night, before going into Otavalo.  Loved it!  Great food, staff, location.  Right on the lake overlooking the volcano, this is a beautiful spot. The food was very good and the atmosphere charming.  They have llamas too!

Worth the stop!

This wonderful site is a piece of heaven, literally on the shore of the Lago san Pablo,  a beautiful small lake with a stunning view of the imbabura volcano (inactive, don’t worry).  I enjoyed sitting at the balcony of my room in one the chalets, breathing the fresh clean air and watching the huge mountain play hide and seek with the clouds while listening to the deep silence, perturbed only by occasional quacks of the ducks in the lake. 
The rooms are cosy and stylish, the staff is very cooperative and the restaurant, on the water, serves tasty dishes. I warmly recommend the place to couples and families.

A taste of bliss

We reached the first heaven😍 Puertolago Country Inn near Otavella. We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day breakfast, courtesy of Gate 1.  
Day 3, after breakfast we made our way to Peguche, known for its beautiful waterfall. Then, took a tour of the market in Otavalo, one of the largest in South America run by the local Otavaleños. On the way, Wilo stopped by the home of a native music man, Mr. Julio, who teaches music to the kids. We enjoyed getting to know him and his lovely family, who showed us how to make and play instruments and we were part of their cultural show! I got my very own rain stick from there.
After visiting the market and another great lunch(on our own), we
countinued on our very topsy/turvey way to Papallacta hot springs where we had a spa package waiting for us. At altitude of almost 10,000 and private pool in front of our rooms, we reached our second heaven Termas de Papallacta! With some pools so hot (95 c) we couldn’t put our feet in even!

Multi-Family Trip to Ecuador

We stayed here for two days with the incredible mountain volcanoes and lake views from the restaurant and villas.  Wonderful food with many Ecuadorian specialties.  Loved the steak and shrimp!  Make sure you take a walk on the boardwalk and watch the clouds roll toward you over the mountains.  The staff was very friendly and did an excellent job for us!

Wonderful Resort and Restaurant!

Second time I have stayed here and I was looking forward to coming back.  There is just something so nice about being here...the lake with the steam rising in the morning making everything look so romantic against those mountains, the birds in the evening, the rooms that are just so quiet and you can even have a fire if you want in the rooms with fireplaces.  The grounds are landscaped so nicely, a real treat to walk around.  Take a boat ride in the evening, it is a wonderful experience.

The main lodge where you get your meals is lovely with a big fireplace for cooler evenings and full of vases of flowers...views to the lake while you eat your meals.

The only complaint I guess would be not having water bottles in your room.  Bed was really nice and comfy.  Bathroom had what you needed but a bit dark.

Such a beautiful view, such peace...good for the soul to stay here....

What an excellent experience!  Cozy cabañas and great lakeside food, picaña was perfect.... Close to famous Otavalo Market yet away from town lakeside under/across from  the amazing inactive Imbabura volcano.  

Masters of Hospitality

The hotel is in a beautiful setting on a quiet lake with views of the mountains. The hotel staff are very kind and helpful. They have a fine restaurant that over looks the water. The famous Otavalo market is a five minute taxi ride at just three dollars for four people. The Saturday market is one of the largest artesian markets in South America.

Overlooks lake and volcano mountains

Our tour group stayed one night at this small hotel right along the lake. Views of the volcano were amazing. Our room had a fireplace, two double beds, and a bath with shower. Staff were super friendly. Turndown service included putting a hot water bottle in each of our beds to take the evening chill away. Dinner upon arrival and breakfast the next morning were delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

One night stay

Location, location and a real fire place in the accommodation!
Not the fake sort of fire place but a real one and it will be lit after dinner and make you like in the fine days of travel gone by.
The location of the hotel is magic as well.
All other services are up to the standard expected.
