The owner is very friendly and talkative, willing to assist and accomodate you. Rooms are clean and stylishly decorated. Breakfast is very tasty and healthy. It is a Czech-Ecuadorian family run business and a gallery that goes an extra mile by offering tasty Czech beers, Baileys and other drinks, that are otherwise hard to find in Ecuador. Excellent value for money!

smart choice with artsy decor & healthy breakfast

I'm a volunteer living in Ecuador and went to Montañita for a weekend trip. I loved staying at Hurvinek! The staff was great and super helpful. The location was perfect, as it's a short walk to the beach, but far enough away that it's not too loud at night. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay!

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The location is great, close to everything but far enough to not hear clubs if you want to sleep. Nice simple breakfast. The only complaint is the wifi in my room was spotty.

My stay here was delightful. The staff I met were super sweet and welcoming, especially Marco and Vanessa. I had a room with a big comfy bed (harder mattress, which I prefer) and a balcony overlooking the street. There's hot water if you let the shower run for a minute, and I appreciated the daily fresh towels! The hotel is away from the party street, so it's quieter at night. But you can walk everywhere, including the beach, within minutes. The buffet breakfast was perfect for me (fruit, yogurt, oats, eggs, bread, coffee). There's always good music playing, I had no trouble with the wifi, and it's a chill atmosphere. Highly recommend! Oh, and they have Czech beer on tap ;)

Booked for two and stayed for three nights as the allure of Montanita was just too much. 
Hurvinek is located close to the action but far enough away for us to have no issues with the noise, although if you are super sensitive you will still hear the clubs.
The beach is a 5 minute walk away which was perfect for early morning/evening swim.
The room was cleaned every day and the breakfast was simple but very good. 
Staff were always on hand to help and super friendly too.
Only thing for improvement would be the mattress on the bed and the hot water in the shower was temperamental. This didnt bother us though and would definitely recommend to other travellers.

Ideal spot in the heart of it

Nice place despite small Rooms,Kind staff, small breakfast provided, Not so hot considering how hot is ecuador in february. Enough close to restaurants and beach, you can easily walk to.Will recommend this place. Thanks a Lot 

Ok quiet hotel

Located just minutes from beach and crazy center. Good sized room and shower. No hot water provided and the fan (no AC) was broken. This town can get very noisy at night. Hotel could do better managing drunk guests coming home at night. Friendly staff.

Good location

Was not able to process my credit/debit card. Made me leave and go to an ATM to get cash before they'd check us in. Hotel advertises it takes card but be prepared that it may not. Wanted to pay with my credit card but ended up having to use my debit which altered my budget. Room had bugs on the sheets. Shower fluctuated from hot and cold the whole time. Sheets were like paper. One night cost me $190. Surge pricing for NYE but it still was waaaay too much for the service and setting.

It’s close to the beach. But the stuff needs to improve

I was GRANDPAcking in Montanita for 4 nights.
I booked myself into the Galeria Hurvinek … it was away from ‘Main Street’ in one of the quieter side streets.
I booked a Double Room (single occupancy) at a discounted rate of US$18.30 / night (which included 22% tax). 
For another $4 / night I included the optional Breakfast.
My room was an average size. It had some furniture .. including a decent clothes rack.
It had a good sized ensuite. But, only a cold water shower (at this time of year, hot water is almost a necessity).
I had a small balcony over-looking the street.
The Buffet Breakfast was served in the restaurant. For US$4 (in Ecuador) I have had better value for money … there was hardly any scrambled egg. In fact, there always seemed to be insufficient food for the number of guests. But, at least, they had unlimited coffee! 🙂 One morning I was the only one eating Breakfast so they didn’t lay out a buffet at all – they just brought me scrambled egg.
The Free WiFi down in the restaurant area was poor and very unreliable during the day … the upstairs in-room wifi was better but, often, you could only stream video late at night.
