Lyng Dal Hotel og Restaurant

We stayed at the Lyng Dal Hotel for two nights while we were looking for some towns where my husband's relatives used to live. It is located in the small village of Gammel Ry and the area is beautiful!  One or two nights a week the reception/restaurant is closed, as was the case on the evening we arrived. There was a note on the hotel door that told us what room we were staying in and asked us what time we would like breakfast. The room itself was very basic, but it was clean. The bathroom  was a small open space with just a curtain on a rounded rod that you close for a shower. The main room had a bed and a table. I would say that if something like Marriott is your style, you may not enjoy this room very much. The included breakfasts were the best part of the entire stay. They prepare a table for your arrival time (breads, cheeses, meats and fruits).  Then when you arrive they cook a plate of hot items and bring them to your table. It was very delicious and the staff was very friendly.  

Small Village Feel

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Lyng Dal.  Everything was perfect:  clean, comfortable, welcoming, and a good nights sleep!  It's the perfect spot to lay ones head for the night, especially after a long walk amongst the lakes.

Marvelous room: clean, great breakfast

Fantatisc location,  beautiful environment.  we have been there for 2 days/nights.  Breakfast was fantastic and the diner is a real happening. It is haute cousine for everything.  Service is brillant.  I forgot some shirts (hanging in the wardrobe) and they sent them afterwards to my home-address. 
In one word:  fantastic

We stayed for 6 nights here while attending a wedding and traveling around Jutland. This small charming 8 room property is co-located with a wonderful restaurant (separate review). It backs up to the restaurants garden and has access to a trail system that provides great views of surrounding countryside and serves the very important role of burning calories of the incredible breakfast that is included with very reasonable room nightly rate. This is the kind of breakfast that needs at least an hour to properly enjoy...See picture of the spread... before the eggs, sausage, bacon, roasted mushrooms and home made liver pate arrived!

Cozy small hotel with great breakfast 

We've stayed at Lyng Dal previously when visiting friends in nearby Aarhus.  We've always had an enjoyable time with good, clean rooms, excellent cuisine, friendly service, a great location overlooking the hills and, for us, on site car parking too.

This time our visit fully again fully met expectations and we were warmly welcomed on our return.  (A confirmation meal (for a young lady) was being held on our first day there so there's local support too.)  

Additionally, I asked for a difestif and was able to sample various special drinks some of which were enhanced with e.g. chilli - interesting!  After the delightful breakfast (no soggy buffet here!) we left for Aarhus on 11 May complete with a Lyng Dal home-grown chilli seedling which is flourishing in England after its journey from Denmark.  

We have no hesitation in recommending Lyng Dal for all the reasons stated.  Thank you Anita and team for another lovely stay - we'll be back!  R & J

Excellent, as ever!

Lyng Dal Hotel is situated with the most fabulous view from the rooms to a very hilly and various nature with the possibility for a fine walk. Just 10 minutes to Galgebakke (Gallow Hill) and another 10 minutes to Musebakke (Mouse Hill) and back again gives the appetite for an excellent dinner. There are only nine rooms, which gives the owner and staff the possibility to have an eye on every detail, and they do. The seasons dinner is some of the best menus I’ve ever tasted. The Lyng Dal Hotel Chef uses mostly local ingredients, grown in their own backyard, which gives every dish a large variety of looks and of tastes and everything is indeed composed so it is a taste of heaven on earth. I do too have to mention the owners and the staff, even youngest trainee, who are indeed polite, talkative and on the solid ground, just as we like it in Jutland. I do apologies that Tripadvisor has no more than five “stars”, because here I need and they deserves six. It is a hotel with middle class prizes for luxury class menus.

We were on a European and Scandinavian driving tour and wanted somewhere to relax for a couple of days before meeting up with friends in Aarhus and found family-run Lyng Dal nearby.  This isn't just a superb restaurant and comfortable hotel it can also be a relaxing retreat.  The garden has a beehive, small vegetable plots and views of & access to the heather-covered hills beyond.  The hills are safely fenced so you can either walk up to get the spectacular views over the lake or just go onto the hills and amble and maybe see the 6 friendly horses grazing there.  (Ry itself is a nice little town with a community co-op (we met one of it's committee dining at the Lyng Dal) and there's also a birds of prey & bison museum and other sights nearby.)  Our room was on the ground level (there are some one floor up) so we had a private terrace with table and chairs overlooking the gardens and hills.  Dinner was from a limited menu so that wines were matched to courses (or choose your own wine, of course).  The service was exemplary and the food delicious.  Breakfast was timed for your arrival so there was no hours-old buffet awaiting you.  Breakfast was beautifully presented and freshly prepared including honey from the on-site colony (we know, we delivered the honeycomb from the beekeeper to the kitchen) how fresh do you want it?  Lyng Dal is delightful and I'd go out of my way to stay here again!  We recommended our friends in Aarhus to visit Lyng Dal too .........

You'll have to go a long, long way to do better!

The hotel is great. Nice quiet rooms. Clean and up to date.
But the restaurant is even better. The food is great and the wine is accordingly.  
Nothing short of a Michelin stars worthy!
Very tasty rich.
