We decided to stop by Stare Splavy (lake Machovo) when we found ourselves in the Czech rep visiting friends near Prague.. We were with our 3 boys ages 11, 9 and 3. After lots of visiting we wanted a couple of mellow days on the water somewhere. And this was only about 90 minute drive with much fresher,cooler air than prague. Im from california so to me it reminded me of what i imagine Lake Tahoe was in the 60's.. Or maybe more like Bass Lake now. We found Lazensky Vrch on this site and though the partner sites said it was full we has a Czech speaking friend call and she easily booked a suite that would fit our large family. The hotel is a short walk from the agua park which is set up like the TV show Wipeout with a very large floating obstacle course on the lake.  Kids loved it. Do not expect anyone in this town to speak English. Also make sure to have czech krowns cause they dont take Euros. Arrive armed with google translate. The room was very comfortable , airy and light with great mattresses. Slept better than I had in weeks of traveling. Breakfast was just OK with local bread and laughing cow cheese and a box of "apple mint drink" that claimed to be at least 20%juice. My kids likes it. Also they only hasNescafé instant so we went for coffee elsewhere later. But overall this seems like one of the best hotels in the area. When I arrived I was surprised to see so many hotels that weren't mentioned on this site. It also looks like they have lots of homes to rent for vacationers .

A very cozy hotel in a perfect location

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend and it was one of the most pleasant experiences we have had in a hotel in the Czech Republic. The staff were extremly friendly and so helpful - it was five star service, no question. The food served in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and the small outdoor pool was clean and tempting us! (Though the weather was not too good for swimming) I highly, highly recommend this. The staff do not speak English, but they will certainly try!

Pleasant Bohemian Experience

It would be difficult to stay here if one did not speak Czech but we were with a friend so it was ok. The hotel is a slightly refurbished but well kept art deco building in a quiet position with a small pool and is a few minutes walk from the lake. Our room was large and spacious and the bathroom was good. The balcony overlooked the pool. It was all clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was adequate but not startling. But there were very few people around so it felt a bit like a ghost hotel. There were places to sit or to play snooker but noone was doing it. The staff did not seem particularly friendly but it was fine for us for a one night stay.

A good quiet hotel base from which to explore the area

The hotel is not Disabled Access Friendly. No elevator. There is no air condition, and room was not cleaned during all our 5-days long stay. The hotel does not accept credit cards (in spite of Booking.com statement). The staff does not speak any language besides of Czech. If you will be going to dine at the restaurant - the food is good but always check the resulting bill, the waiter usually mistaken by 100-150 crowns in his favor. WiFi is only in reception area. The signal is very weak in the room
