What a beautiful place to stay! So much nature all around, look out for poison dart frogs all over the grounds, so cute! I saw a squirrel, agouti, heaps of lizards and monkeys in the grounds here and some beautiful birds 🐦 fabulous!

Breakfast was great, one item was pre chosen(eggs/bacon/omelette etc) and fruit and toast is included as standard 😋 very tasty and plentiful.

Room was good, no insects Inside which is always a bonus when staying in nature you usually expect the odd creepy crawly but we had none in our room.

Short walk to beach just across the road, plenty of restaurants around to eat in, we did not try the hotel restaurant for dinner so can't comment.

We did a day trip to visit the Indigenous tribe of the BriBri people, would highly recommend this excursion! We rode in a dugout canoe down the York in river which was beautiful, spent the morning learning about their culture and trying out some tradi archery, palm weaving to make a roof and bathing in natural pools, we had a traditional bribri lunch made from natural grown ingredients and then learnt about making chocolate which was delicious! The people are very humble and happy to have the support of a little tourism to help keep their culture going. A must do if you are visiting this area!

My only negatives would be that it was VERY hot at night in the room, if you use the mosquito net (recommended) I could not feel the ceiling fan at all, this made sleeping very uncomfortable! And the only other thing is that our fridge would periodically make a really horrible loud noise which would startle me in the middle of the night as I am a light sleeper, maybe the hotel staff can take a look at this 🤔 (dolphin room) x

Perfect for nature lovers

We never look for luxury, more a feel. Here from the first black and green tree frog of the morning to the last dink frog of the evening we had a great time. The grounds were lovely and while nothing is flash, everything was fab for the four of us. Happy hour with new cocktail pairs each day was a nice luxury and breakfast as everywhere was lovely. While a lot is made to warn of security here, with a modicum of common sense the area seemed fine and we enjoyed some lovely chilled time in the local town both in the day and the evening. Chill and Cheese being a lovely low key place to eat. Pollera K also offering a fantastic snack- best fried chicken we tasted in Costa Rica! All in all a great chilled place to stay.

Best accommodation of our trip

We loved this place. The bungalows were really cool, really nicely designed and very edgy. Comfortable beds and REALLY appreciated the mosquito nets.

Beautiful grounds, lots of wildlife. Food was great (breakfast amazing) and dinner was good too. Cocktails fresh and tasty, . Service friendly. 

Fans in rooms but no air con. I didn’t find it too bad as thankfully mosquito nets made me feel more comfortable sleeping outside covers. Hard to get a warm shower which was my only complaint.

Loved this place!!

Bungalows are nice with some space amongst them (as the windows are not glazed). The bathroom is original. 
The waitresses for the breakfast are really nice. You order what you want (e.g. pancakes, omelet). There is no food bin display as in the other hotels where you feel sorry that everything will be thrown away. 
The hotel is a bit distant from the center of Puerto Viejo, but I appreciated that as it was quiet.

quiet cute place

Amazing lodge with birds everywhere. Toucans, Hummingbirds, Parrots, etc. the Beach is 50m away. The bungalows are very comfortable. Food at the the restaurant is good. A great stay. For bird lovers and others of course

February 2022

We spent 8 days at Azania bungalows. The bungalow, staff, location and food was amazing. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The landscaping is beautiful. We were fortunate to see a sloth down from a tree. The sloth crawled across our walkway and into the tree just outside our bungalow. 

The location was perfect for traveling to Cahuita or Manzanilla. It is directly across the road from the beach. Azania has a wonderful pool beside the restaurant which is convenient for ordering drinks or lunch. The Tuna steak on dinner menu was the best I may have ever had. 

We are looking forward to our return to Azania in the near future!

Amazing

We spent 4 nights here last week and stayed in a gorgeous bungalow, dolphin.  The flaura and fauna surrounding this place is stunning.  Howler monkeys wake you up and send you to bed, the little agoutis running around are so funny and best of all were the ghekos who try to lick up the jam at breakfast time.  Just hilarious. The rooms were clean and super comfortable with a hammock on the verandah which I used loads to chill and read my book.  Staff were great and helpful.  We hired bikes and cycled for 2 days and this is a great way of getting back and for to the town of Puerto Viejo and to the other amazing beaches around the coast.  Cycling is easy as it is all flat and on sea level, which ever way you chose to go.  Highly recommend this lodge, town and surrounding areas.

Glorious bungalow surrounded by forest.

Azania Bungalows is a beautiful place to stay when you are in Puerto Viejo. The bungalows are spacious and comfortable, the garden is full of colourful plants and little animals, the swimming pool is nice and the breakfast is delicious. We rented some bikes that were available and drove to the beach. We loved our stay here!

Mooie, ruime bungalows

This is a really relaxing way to end our tour of Costa Rica. The bungalow is great and the breakfast is substantial. We eat in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was delicious. The pool area is so peaceful. I loved it.

Great end to our adventure

Very beautifully built and comfortable bungalows! Good showers and very clean. Super friendly and helpful staff. I really love the garden, it's well kept and vey pretty. The pool looked nice as wel, but we didn't have an opportunity to use it. Breakfast is very tasty and promptly made when you arrive. Also the restaurant serves nice dishes. Only the beds are a bit too firm for my taste.
