Feicheng Blossom Hotel

This hotel is clearly your best choice in Feicheng. I had the pleasure of a three week stay in July 2016. Let's just say that English is not the first language, but that fact simply matters not if you care about providing quality to your guests. Baosheng binguan delivered with: service, room comfort, cleanliness and food service. Recommend.

Spot less. Friendly

A very underwhelming hotel by 'international hotel' standards. Firstly, the good...

1. Rooms are cheap and large. 

2. Beds are comfortable.

3. Chinese food at the downstairs restaurant was decent.

Now, the not so good. 

1. Rooms are SO SMOKY. I know it's China, but you literally cannot turn on the heating without having to smell smoke; it was so bad the first night I woke up multiple times due to the stench. So I had to sleep without heating, which was actually fine temperature wise, but I could still not escape the faint smell of smoke anyhow. Also, they had no smoking signs in the tables in the lobby and people just smoked there anyway and nobody tried to make them stop; of course the place is going to stink.

2. Staff don't know how to respect one's privacy. I don't see the point of having a "do not disturb" light when staff just ignore it and open the door anyway, for unimportant tasks like changing the fruit bowl. I got interrupted one weeknight at 8pm, and - even worse - at 8am on a Sunday. And it's difficult to explain to them that you just want them to leave, because they (understandably) don't speak English. Incredibly frustrating. 

3. The lifts take FOREVER. Not only are there only two very slow lifts, but they aren't even coordinated to work in a logical way. Often they're stopping at the same floors at the same time. Also, as soon as the place is busy, the lifts take even longer... Often you can't squeeze in because by the time the lift gets to level 12 or so, it's reached capacity. I once waited a full 10 minutes...

4. Only Chinese is spoken. For sure it's China, but I didn't even feel the super friendly to foreigner vibes you sometimes get in Chinese hotels where you know, even through a language barrier, that the person you're speaking to is going to go out of their way to help you. Essentially, staff seemed fairly disinterested.

5. Don't be surprised to see people hocking up phleghm in the ash trays in the lobby. It happened three times during my 7 night stay.

6. Foreigners will get stared at by other guests because this is essentially a hotel for locals. (Not that I personally find this an issue, but I know it bothers some.)

7. There is a poor and extremely limited selection of Western food at the breakfast buffet. (But again, the Chinese food is quite good.)

Basically, if you can stay somewhere else do so. My colleague and I managed to find a very impressive hotel close by called the "New Cooperation International Hotel", which serves excellent food. They also have limited English capacity, and seemingly no presence online, however there was one extremely friendly staff member keen on speaking English to us, and when we asked to have a peek at their rooms they happily obliged. Those rooms are very spacious and look excellent for the price, and the hotel is much more modern than Blossom. They're on No.069 xincheng road Feicheng.
