Stayed here and whilst not a “plush” hotel , for the money paid ; good  location , reception staff friendly and helpful , speak English and room and bathroom very clean .
Late check out is a bonus

Good , clean and simple hotel 

been i n this hotel only 2 times, no main complain, but.... i can't wait 15 minute to check-in because only 1 person on the desk, bath towel the most cheaper quality i ever see, you try to dry yourself, but you can only get more wet than before...
by late night if u have work to do on computer after 12 am, the internet signal is gone, no connection and your work is lost...
called the desk and answer was: try to connect with other room number, after tried and didn't wok, the answer was: sorry don't know that to do...
you ask the desk where to buy the cigarette, classic answer is: next door to the shop, but they only sell chinese brands, answer from the desk: sorry i can't help...
if the desk service will be more helpfull, this could be the best hotel in Suzhou with good value for money, but isn't...
you ask for a room with queen bed, and the answer is: only double bed available, and are chinese standard size... too small for 1.90 tall people...
in 5 days stay, never changed bed sheet..
outside the window workers start at 7 am, so impossible try to rest bit more in the morning, ask to change room, answer: sorry can't help...
 next time better 5 star with well reputation.
plus i forgot, none speak english here...

The room looked like apartment. They had stove, ref, sink, even the mask for fire!
Breakfast was ok. Wifi was great! No need password, just connect! Good hotel for take a rest for a while. Near some mini markets

Working in China, I moved many times to find the best place to stay in the 'garden' !? city of Suzhou. But there is only one place I can call my home. The > Ligongdi hotel < is for me the very best place to stay in the city for many reasons. This hotel has in comparison very big rooms in a minimalist style and every day the housekeeping is doing a great job. There is a very good heating and air condition system in the room, if u come over winter you really value it. The hotel restaurant is very small but they serve a very delicious breakfast and they care for everything in detail, as far as I remember, I got Sushi for breakfast and the best Suzhou green tea selection, a specialty of the region. They have also a tiny small gym with free bottled water and a 24/7 shop where u can get everything u might have forgotten or need. In addition you can find ice cream, juices and soda water ... The street has changed rapidly, there are many very nice restaurants around, best >Italian< ( ... try pizza: walnut - gorgonzola - honey! ... ) and best >Hot Pot< ( ... purely market fresh vegetables and home-made stock, no sapidity agent ... ) in town, cross the road to find both. There are also two nice coffee spots where u can go to meet the local hipsters. Beside the > Ligongdi hotel < you can find a health clinic with very experienced doctors. You can hardly find such a great and committed service in the West. If u are accommodated and ready to dive deeper into the local culture, down the road -right side from the lake - there is a very big spa, for me it was a rather strange place but yes try out how it suits you. Left side from the lake- up the road you can find a tourist office, the ladies who work in the office help a lot, they are really angels guiding the way ahead, so that you really can reach any location you like to approach in the broader neighborhood of the lake, in suzhou or around. All the routes they looked up for me I really reached in time and I enjoyed very much the conversation and atmosphere in the office. From the > Ligongdi hotel <  you can crab a bike and cycle around the lake or to other suburbs. You can take a cab ( ask the front desk they have their own drivers ) or bus ( 60 min ) straight to the old town city centre or to Dushu lake ( 30-40 min ), the location is in a very good public network and with many transport links. BUT there is neither the high speed train station to Shanghai nor a subway station close to the hotel, but you can take a bus or cab to catch the tube after a short ride ( 30-40 min ). I found that the location is very convenient if u like to stay mobile and flexible, from here you can use a big variety of options to explore and discover the lake and the city. Critical questions, ok the > Ligongdi hotel < does not give Westerners a special statues or rank, all people are the same and welcoming. There is no way to bargain down the hotel room charge and there are no posh extras to expect. I still reasoning what is in common with Switzerland, just a few letters nothing more, the local people name the place: > Ligongdi hotel <. Here you can book the lake view if u wish and I'd suggest. Writing this, I forget everything around me, so many beautiful memories I associate with this place, with the people and with the neighborhood around, best measured in friends than miles.
