Stayed at Safari Guest house for 4d3n during Vday and CNY week.
Location was great as it was near the bus stop as well as MTR stations.
Accomodating and friendly staffs (ate Lyn and the other lady I forgot to ask the name)
Clean room, towels provided were changed everyday.
Will certainly book this guest house when we visit Hongkong again. :)

Value for money, clean rooms and friendly staff

It's not easy to find a hotel in Hongkong, if you are a low budget traveler, since most of the hotel in HK provide a very high price.  But finally found this guest house from tripadvisor,  then directly i decided to make a reservation for my 5 days holiday there. Everything was perfect,  location is easy to find,  very clean,  the facilities also very complete.  The most important thing is the guest host is very friendly and helpful, they are Filipino. She will reply the text very fast when you need some helps. Some people said that chungking mansion is very horrible place to stay,  but for me its ok,  nothing horrible here,  and even they have a small elevator,  but i didnt find any problem with that.  I can go somewhere easily bcz its location is very close to the MTR station. Thank you for the unforgettable experience,  thank you Dora the owner of the guest house,  im really satisfied with the services

Perfect place to stay

The place is conveniently located 2 min from the MTR and bus stop. The filipina hosts are very accomodating and pleasant. They provide free towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, bath gel and by special request, free water :). Room was cozy enough for the price. Clean bathroom. 

Good service. Good value for money.

Location : Placed at Chongqing Bld Nathan Rd Tsimshatsui, it was very crowded place. You can see lots of money changer, electronic, food, gadget, cosmetics stores, etc at the ground floor as well as around the famous Nathan Rd. Very near to the nearest MTR Station. 

Price : Cheap!

Room : Quite small for 2 people but good enough for your stay!

Cheap, Good & Crowded!

I'm never going back. Our arrival was really late so I chose a cheap hotel for our first day. It's located inside a building so the place is always busy and actually feels unsafe. The elevators are really small, and may take sometime if you're going outside. The room was small, but the bathroom was much smaller with no space to actually move. It was so cramped that when we woke up the next morning, I was having a mammoth headache. Not really a comfortable stay. Although the receptionists are nice and the location is ideal, but still, I'd rather stay in a hotel with its own building.

Crowded

I've stay in maids room for 6 days and 5 nights. The place is quiet, peaceful but the Hall Way unto the rooms smells really disgusting like a curry. Every time I open the Air Conditioner the smell gets stronger and stronger so every time I finish my shower I immediately leave the room because the smell stick into my clothes. Although the room  is clean I saw a bed bugs and cockroach round and round all the way to the room. Still thankful I haven't bitten with the bed bugs. 

Unpleasant Smell but Quiet place 

You can see a cockroach passing every 30 minute or so, little ones, big ones.
The place is small, dirty and noisy.
Stay away from that one.
Many better places in this building for the same price or cheaper.

I had booked online at Safari guesthouse and Maharaja, 2 different nights (due to availability) - there is one management for both hostels. 

First time at Safari, what I encountered were cockroaches, spiders, and a flooded bathroom floor (when they do the laudry, the drain overflows into the room).

Next day, having another room reserved and confirmed at Maharaja, i went there to get away from the cockroaches, but the reception told me they have no rooms and did not care about anything. They just unilaterally cancelled my booking, knowing i spoke to them in person the previous day and that I will be coming to change the room. 

Very unprofessional and unreliable, they ruin it for the rest of the good places around.

Cockroaches and bad service

This review is for both Safari Lodge and Maharaja Lodge, as they are essentially the same place and used interchangeably.

First of all, I love Chungking Mansions.  I've stayed in different places there multiple times.  I know what to expect and I like its "character."

The guy was nice during check-in.  He said that Safari Lodge (where I booked) was full, and that Maharaja downstairs had rooms.  The room was tiny (like everything in Hong Kong), but nice.

During my second night, my jeans had fallen off of the clothes hanger and onto the floor, which was COVERED with water.  It was 1am, so I figured I'd deal with it in the morning.  I called the reception at 10am and explained what happened.  He said the whole floor was flooded overnight, and that he was mopping the lobby at 5am.  I asked if he had a washer, or at least a dryer.  He said no, that I could use the coin laundry on the first floor.  I said, "Wow.  Well I'm going to need a little extra time then.  I need to wear these jeans when I leave."  He yelled at me, "NO!  YOUR JEANS, YOUR PROBLEM!  I WAS MOPPING AT 5AM!  IF YOU CHECK-OUT LATE YOU HAVE TO PAY!"

Needless to say, I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
