Our stay in Helen's Home was fantastic experience. Helen is very friendly, helpful and she cares about you. So feeling great at her home. Despite China Golden Week and problems with reservations everywhere Helen arranged for us driver as we wanted to go to see rice terraces and Li River boat cruise. She also give us a pick up to restaurants with good recommendation and drove us to train station  Her house is perfectly located in quite area. It is also clean and has everything you need. We enjoyed our stay here very much and can highly recommend it. Thank you Helen!

Great hospitality and stay!

Helens Home was an amazing little oasis on our trip! Located across from the river, with a beautiful mountain to gaze at from the rooftop garden patio, and a lovely courtyard where we could start our adventures with the most delicious coffee I’ve had in China! Helen, Mr. Xue, Jordan and SheeBau (white dog??) made us so welcome! The rooms were charming, beds a bit hard but Helen gave us extra blankets to help pad, and ended up having amazing sleeps. Thank you so much Helen and crew!

Absolutely perfect!

We stayed 2 + 1 night at Helens home and we loved it a lot. Helen sent a message to us before our stay to ask if she could help in any way, we chatted through WeChat and she helped us to book a taxi from the airport. She also helped us to find a good restaurant our first evening and even took us there with her car and helped us to order our food. 
Helens Home is located in a lovely area right by the river and a wonderful park, make sure to visit it in the evening, we saw dancing and exercising in the park. It takes about 40 min to walk to city centre.
Helen helped us to book trips to the rice terraces and Li river cruise and made sure we got our breakfast before leaving. 
Wifi is available and good enough. You can choose between western and Chinese breakfast, the western was very nice and I loved their coffee. The madrases were a bit hard.
Thank you Helen so much for all the help and a wonderful stay. I can strongly recommend Helens Home.

Wonderful stay at Helens home

If in Guilin, definitely stay here! Helen is a wonderful host, speaking perfect English and being extremely helpful - giving advice about restaurants, arranging tour/bus/hotel bookings, driving us to the bus stop/ATM... overall making our Guilin stay so much more amazing! She also borrowed us customer cards for the public bikes offered by the City of Guilin (rental station close by: very convenient to get around town). The hotel is a little outside the center and very quiet, nicely situated right by the river. Our room was good, there is a nice courtyard and good food offered as well. Overall highly recommended!

Great host and familiar atmosphere

When I arrived, I asked Helen (whom I had mistaken for the concierge) to tell me where the nearest noodle shop was. Instead of providing directions, her sister jumped on the moped and delivered fresh noodles in less than 15 minutes. This level of personal yet professional, VIP, presidential service continued throughout my stay. Helen even made "zongzi", a local Dragon Boat festival food to share with her guests. She helped me make one as she shared the story dragon boat festival which commerates the death of Qu Yuan who was a famous poet and minister of the State of Chu. Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river rather than see his beloved country invaded and conquered by the State of Qin.

I am not a "hostel" person. I stay at J.W.Marriott and Hilton Embassy Suites. I only choose to stay there because of the reviews and I am grateful for the experience. By choosing Helen's, I choose to travel without ever leaving home.
