Orquidea Guest House

Tranquil setting, beautiful place, and even more beautiful people! We spent 2-weeks at this lovely, out-of-the way, beach-side bed-and-breakfast on the edge of Sal Rei, Boa Vista. We could not have been happier! Our room was comfortable and clean with a lovely beach view, complete with hammock, table, and lounge chair. The views and breeze from the ocean were unforgettable. The beach, a short 50-meter walk across the sand, was clean and void of tourists: only some local families towards the end of each day. Beach clubs with meal and drink services are a scant 10-minute walk up the beach. Plenty of opportunities nearby to rent boats, wind surf, fish, snorkel or most anything else in the water. Breakfast in the courtyard was excellent: fresh fruit, eggs to order, meats and cheeses, cakes...just enough. Wonderful restaurants with fresh fish were a short walk in any direction. Our room was perfectly clean, and the friendly staff did an outstanding job maintaining it. The best part of our stay was our Hosts: Orquidea and Gary. Kind, charming, and wonderful people with a rich history in and around Cabo Verde. By the time we departed, we truly felt like Family. Both were so incredibly helpful...to include arranging tours, taxis, fishing trips and especially a memorable night out for our 19th wedding anniversary. Gary, an accomplished sailor and fisherman, has a Boston Whaler nearby and offers amazing reasonably priced chartered fishing (or spearfishing) tours for guests. We went out three times and ALWAYS came back with fish. We were so happy that we stayed here and not at a larger, busier hotel. WHEN we return to Boa Vista, we will most certainly return to the Orquidea Guest House and our GOOD FRIENDS, Orquidea and Gary. This is a special place and our home-away-from-home in Boa Vista!
