What was good

The fact that a receptionist rushed out to collect both of our heavy suitcases set the tone for our stay. All four of the desk staff that we met were exceptionally professional, knowledgeable, hospitable and wanting to help even when the area was busy. The decor throughout is splendid and our room had a sense of opulence and spaciousness. The furniture is modern but solid and substantial. We got discount offers for the restaurant and wine shop. We did use the 10% off breakfast vouchers both days. It is a great idea also to give 10% off if you put out a green day label so that your towels are not changed.

What was bad

We were surprised there was no safe in the room or drinking water. The no water policy we were told is to be green and not give out one-use plastic bottles. When I asked one person for water, she said we could buy it at the 7-11. When we mentioned it at the end of our stay we were told that Victoria tap water is fine to drink and that water could be obtained from the restaurant but we did not know that. I was really disappointed to find dust on both bedside lamp bases as well as on the frame of the mirror in the room and the bathroom mirror. I did not look further but I mentioned this on the room survey. For the style of hotel and the cost, lack of dusting is not acceptable.
