We stayed in August after purchasing a WagJag and were very disappointed with the cleanliness of this “resort”. Coffee pot and dishes were broken, furniture is stained and torn, linens we dirty and not changed before our stay. The waterfront is small and shared with 23 other cabins. We do not recommend this resort, not even at a discounted rate.

WagJag Stay

I called this place to get information about renting a few cottages in August.  I have never been treated so rudely by someone ever. The lady said and I quote “I honestly don’t have time to deal with this right now”  I would not subject my family and friends to this type of customer service.  After reading the reviews I learned that I’m not the only one who was treated horribly by these owners.  Good thing there is black lake cabins across the road who were more than accommodating and helpful.  They are also half the price.

Rude customer service

The people running this resort are not honest people.  They lied about not finding a chain and kept it for themselves.  They knew exactly what we were looking for.  We called same day and went back the next day early in the morning.  They lied about renting the cabin for half a day to someone else that day.  The lady “ Julie” that does the cleaning said she never saw it but she knew the room and where to look for.  
the cabins and all amenities were not maintained and were old and run down.

Don't trust ...

My fiance and I had a wedding to go to in Bala, ON. We have 4 children ranging from 2yrs-14yrs so getting away doesnt happen often as it is hard to find something for everyone and the cost for a family of 6 is impossible. As it was an adult only wedding but we wanted to make a weekend of it we brought my mother in law as the cost for a cottage that slept 7 was very affordable.
The cottage was great! Super cute, very rustic, had everything we could have ever wanted. It was rather dirty but I had lysol wipes and I clean up after 4 kids so no worries... again it was cheap.
Unfortunately there was a big wind storm that had knocked out hydro in most of the area. We were lucky and our cottage had hydro but no running water.
We text the owner Mitch who pretended to not be one of the owners, after several texts that assured us he didnt care in the least we were told to go to the Brewery they own across the street to get buckets of water so we could flush the toilet.
We drove over and got the buckets (the bartender was very nice and helpful but didnt even know we were coming) 
We noticed the other owner Greg and his extremely intoxicated wife in the brewery having a grand time. As we were leaving carrying out our buckets she even stumbled past us out the front door of the bar and was upset with us that we did not have a lighter handy as our hands were full of buckets of water so our children could use the toilet.
The next day the owner was on site doing several construction projects, having a fire, running heavy equipment to move wood but not a single employee of the resort came to offer us any water, information, apologies, nothing. 
Upon checking out Sunday afternoon at the Brewery which they dont tell you is check in and out, both owner Mitch and Greg were in the Brewery. As I was leaving they asked how my stay was.
I told them very to the point that it was made terrible by nothing other than the two of them and their lack of customer service and how it saddens me that they have such a wonderful little place and great cottages but the lack of customer service and fact that neither of them care at all about their facility or customers ruins the entire thing.
They both laughed and responded with "we hear that a lot" then continued to try to make excuses and lies to cover it up. 
My message to them as I left and stands true now is CARE!!! It is not hard. Give a crap about your customers and your reviews will go from a 1&2 to a 3&4 very easily.

Could have been awesome

Pool is filthy and unusable.
No management on site. Some guy from the brewery across the street (which is also owned by the resort owner!) come after a while when you call.
Terrible plumbing at this place. The family across the way had their shower flood into their master bedroom and apparently the owner knew this happened.
Construction rubble everywhere.
The deck on our neighbour's cottage was rotten and unusable.
The owner has plans to build a "spa" onsite. Cant wait to see how that turns out. They cant even maintain the cottages that are there.
You have to get rid of your garbage by taking it off site to the bins across the street to the brewery's bins which are surrounded by scattered trash and reek.

Run Down and Poorly Maintained

We paid 180$ per night on Booking.com to take our three grand daughters on a trip to Santa’s Village. This was spur of the moment so we love that area in Muskoka near Bala so we thought the photos looked nice. Sometimes reviews are too negative so I disregarded them. I should not have done so.  We were in Cabin 1. It was very dirty, had a musty smell, had a vice grip to turn on the shower and the door knob was coming off. The pool was right in front of our cabin. The photo of the pool on their website is lovely. The pool is green, not running and surrounded by a fence with a broken gate. I love camping and do not mind rustic at all. This was dirty...stove rings were brown with baked on grease, the tub had heel marks in it...there were two towels for five people... We stayed because the girls saw the little beach. The water is perfect and shallow with a sandy bottom. There is about sixty feet of “beach” for 25 cabins , so you get the idea. The life jackets were ripped and water logged, but the water and lake are so pretty. We were only staying two nights so we kept our shoes on and did not shower. The second morning we were greeted by a guest urinating at the end of our driveway. I think there are no rules. We heard them throwing knives and using a chain saw for wood late into the night..the train noise mentioned by others did not bother us!  This is a truly heavenly setting that has been damaged by constant digging etc. I think they are making new cottages, although they can not manage the ones they now own.  What a shame that the brewery and construction have taken precedence over providing family camping in such a idyllic wooded lot. The neighbours on the lake shore must cringe. There are lots of private signs up on docks etc. because for such a huge Resort there is not enough beach. On the positive side, the bedding was clean and we loved the area. There were dishes and pots and pans and the barbecue was good.  I think a health inspector needs to visit.  I fear a child will drown in the pool after going through the broken gate. You would not see the child under the murky green water.  The life jackets would also never buoy up a person.
