My wife and I stayed at this inn in Petit Saguenay for three nights in June on the eleventh leg of our Ontario and Quebec road trip.  We arrived mid-afternoon and were met by Marie José who gave us the warmest of welcomes.  There was ample space for us to park our car and we caught our first glimpse of the magnificent gardens to the rear of the property. We were shown round this attractive establishment, with so many appealing features. There were plenty of places where we could sit outside to enjoy the dappled sunlight.

Our dual aspect room on the first floor had views to the front and the side of the property.  The huge sliding door opened to a verandah with two chairs.  The room benefited from an effective and mercifully quiet air conditioning unit.  There was a king sized double bed provided with quality sheets.    It was a comfortable bed with a supportive mattress. The clothes storage consisted of an open hanging space but there were no drawers or cupboards. We were pleased to find that there was a small fridge freezer for storing chilled foods, such as picnic provisions, as well as a microwave. Our room was a junior suite, and it had a settee, an arm chair, a dining table and chairs and the largest parlour palm one could possibly imagine.  The room was so spacious and comfortable.  The ensuite bathroom contained a spa bath, compact shower enclosure, a sink and toilet.  Towels were soft and fluffy.  The internet signal was very strong which was particularly helpful.

We ate in the inn’s restaurant on our first night.  Our meal was delicious - we both chose bison medallions in a blueberry sauce, accompanied by rice and ratatouille.  We had citrus mousse to finish. Michel was our chef and he offered a wide range of interesting options for dinner.  We chose to self-cater for breakfast.

Our hosts were very pleasant and we enjoyed talking to them immensely.  The property is beautiful with so many homely touches.  We are so glad that we stayed here - both for the comfort of staying in such a wonderful inn, but also as a base to drive around this fascinating area.  It should be noted that the inn is in an extremely quiet residential area, and well-served by a small but impressively well-stocked supermarket just five minutes away on foot.

UPDATE:  After leaving the Auberge we drove to our next accommodation near Lac St Jean.  As we approached our destination we received a succession of critical incident alerts about a potentially dangerous situation.  After being corralled into a protected area, and with the situation still unresolved we opted to return to The Auberge du Jardin, where we received such concern and care for our well-being.  It was very touching.  We stayed for a further three night before continuing with our tour.  We were so grateful to Marie José and Michel for their kindness - they are consummate hosts and it has been a delight to have shared time with these wonderful people.

Gorgeous accommodation, wonderful hosts

Vacation in the Saguenay

It was a pleasant staying in this auberge. The owners are very nice and friendly people. 

The location of it is completely picturesque.

The Inn is clean, nicely decorated, full of amazing paintings.

Their breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

They sell handmade stuff from local people.

I highly recommend this place to stay.

Petit Saguenay with Big Soul

Petit-Saguenay is lovely village, perfectly situated for visits to Saguenay Fjord, and Auberge du Jardin is an inviting country inn in the heart of this beautiful setting. The owners have taken loving care of the grounds and the inn, and are accommodating, welcoming hosts.  They are hosts in the truest sense of the word, and their personal attention to their guests is what sets the inn apart and makes it special. As other reviewers have noted, the food in the restaurant is very good, the inn is clean and comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful.

The hosts make the difference

At the base of steep rock cliffs is this large Inn.  The breakfast was lovely, and the rooms were nice, but not overly decorated like some b and b's.  A lovely common room stacked with games was utilized by several guests.  There are not many places to eat in this town.

Stunningly Situated

Auberge du jardin was a pleasant surprise, located in a very small town.  Facility was spotless, well-cared for, located on beautiful grounds with on-premise owners who were very friendly and accomodating. The on-premises restaurant served excellent breakfasts and dinners.  We were there 2 nites, and would definately stay there again.

Wonderful place to stay when visiting the Saguenay Fjord.
   Beautiful grounds, very nice, clean room.  Excellent food in on-premises restaurant.  Owners were a delight who went out of their way to make you feel welcome.  Would definitely stay at Auberge run Jardin again.  

A Real Gem

We are from Barcelona, we are coming from Toronto. Very nice hotel. Calm, friendly, good atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We regret not spending more days in this hotel and this area. You have plenty of things to do if you like nature.
