MotherHome Inn Hotel

Mother Home is a little tricky to find, being off the beaten path, but most of the tuk-tuk drivers seem to know where it is. That also means it's a nice, quiet hotel without a lot of road noise. The staff is friendly and courteous, and the housekeepers are very polite inn the halls. I think my favorite party was the signs banning durian, played at the great of every staircase. Breakfast was a very typical Asian style buffet. The selection is limited but varied from day to day, and was a good choice of wholesome, tasty food, with options for Continental style as well. The bedroom was comfortable and while it took some time to get the A/C moving, it was quite efficient once it got up to speed. The bathroom is Chinese style, with the shower, toilet and sink all in one space, so if you're the snooty type who refer to the bathroom as an ensuite, you should probably spend the money for an expensive, Western-style hotel. If you don't mind a more rustic setting, you'll love Mother Home. Location, location, location: there's a small mall just north of the hotel, and it's within walking distance of plenty of food and, ultimately, the Old Market and Pub Street. I found it a great place while I toured the temples in the morning, then have a rest through the heat of the day, and spend my evenings people watching in the tourism district.
