At $3000 for 4 nights this "hostel" was disgraceful. In disrepair, rooms aren't serviced, breakfast was disgusting with few options, stale bread and near rotten fruit. They don't offer the list of claimed facilities so if you make the mistake of staying here, arrange your own airport transfers and bring water, soap, kettle and your own food.

They say they offer airport transfers, I received a message from them letting me know they'd placed the 50% hold on my card and requested flight details for said transfer, however, despite multiple attempts to contact them to confirm they received our flight details, we had no response. We arrived at the airport and managed to call them, they found someone that could speak Spanish and he came on a motorbike, then proceeded to call a taxi. So after waiting for about an hour, we finally got a taxi to this hovel. We were told on departure no airport transfer, then I asked again and they booked it.

We arrived and were welcomed by a lovely lady but noone could speak English. We used Google translate to help with communication. So after a long day travelling to get to the island we were made to sit in the heat while we filled out a book of when we arrive and depart and also to make full payment. However they didn't seem to understand that their credit card terminals weren't connecting to the internet and after repeated attempts on multiple cards they looked at us like it was our fault. We explained we had used our cards throughout Brazil already, so it was not our issue. Eventually they let us into our room.

The air conditioning was a relief but the room was nothing more than a cheap hostel/backpackers. With open unfinished wardrobes, filthy tiles in the bathroom, holes in the tiles seemingly where an alternative shower head had been, dirty glass, the architrave around the door was missing on one side, there was a small lizard living inside the hollow door and the fridge barely worked. There were no glasses, no kettle, no soap or shampoo/conditioner and the top sheet didn't fit the bed.

During one shower the cold water stopped working and then the water ceased altogether. When we notified them the response was a shrug of shoulders and request for payment for the room (from a lady who appeared to be the owner and at no point made anything but our credit card feel welcome). When I laughed and again requested they fix the shower, the lady who does the guest welcome, cleaning and cooking came straight with me.

We were later chased out the door requesting payment again. We then had a knock on our door at 1030pm after just arriving back requesting payment again and told them we would do it in the morning. We were unclear what the desperation to get full payment was about. They had placed a hold of 50% deposit on our credit card two weeks prior to arrival, we tried to pay on arrival, so we weren't sure why were being treated like guests who wouldn't pay.

We attempted yet again to pay the following morning and still their credit card machine didn't work and they stared blankly at us for an answer. At this point the Spanish speaking man arrived and I asked if they had PayPal. Payment was then made within 5 minutes. In order to do so, I had to request the supposedly included WiFi password. 

If you're coming here to relax there is no common area and you'll be woken early in the morning from noise outside your hollow door, and the phone rings at all hours. 

The "cafe" / breakfast area is locked outside of breakfast hours (7-930am), so you have no access to kitchen facilities. There's one couch in the entry and some old chairs on the wooden entry deck...wear your shoes as there are rusty nails sticking up! 

We've left feeling exhausted. 

This is definitely a case of supply and demand creating ludicrously inflated prices. You'll pay the price of a globally recognized top hotel for cheap run down hovel with a greedy host that does less than the bare minimum. I resent having to pay that much money for a room that was never cleaned or serviced (we asked for new towels). It almost ruined our experience on this supposed exclusive island.
