This place is a classic in an AMAZING location. Best location in town. Ski In Ski Out under the gondola. EASY walk to town. Clean nice room. Nice Ski Room. Great Breakfast. The Hinterseer Family are skiing legends in Kitzbhel and run a great Inn in a fabulous location. Not overly fancy... but we love that.

The classic place to stay in Kitzbuhel

My partner and I stayed here for a week skiing. Would definitely come back - the rooms are lovely, breakfast is superb, location is fantastic and the hospitality of Guido and Kerstin was just perfect! 

A fantastic week! 

This family-run pension is top-notch. The pension, in the style of a chalet, is immaculately clean, well located, and extremely cozy.

The family members are the Staff, who are so nice and accommodating. Always smiling, a pleasure to talk to, and doing their best to ensure your stay is as good as can be. Their hospitality was welcoming and exemplary. (Also, quite cool that the family name is a legend in its own right, being of Olympic Games stock. Loved the pictures and memorabilia found throughout the pension.)

The chalet is four floors. The bottom-most floor has a mud room / heating room for you ski equipment, which was so nice to have available. The main floor is where you eat breakfast, and it's also where you can sit down and relax in front of a large fireplace with a wonderful fire and enjoy the views of the countryside and town. The upper two floors are the rooms. My room was somewhat basic, but oh so comfortable, and it had a small private patio/balcony with chairs overlooking the town. The entire pension is very clean and cozy feeling.

Breakfast selection is decent, with typical (and tasty) European foods such as breads, cold cuts, cheeses, jams, OJ, milk, coffee, and they'll ask you if you want eggs.

Location is great. Ski in / skit out. Five to ten minute walk into the heart of the city.

Overall a super fantastic stay. I'd certainly return. The family's hospitality alone made my stay enjoyable. The family dog and cat were also fun to have around.

Exemplary accommodation and service

This is my first review on Tripadviser which I am writing because my husband and I have just returned from staying four nights at Pension Hinterseer and it really is as close to perfect as you're likely to find within this price range. 
The host, Guido and his wife, Kirsten could not be more amendable and friendly. They are unobtrusive but were on hand to cook delicious breakfast, recommend and book restaurants and order taxis. 
Guido's father won skiing gold in the 1960 Olympic games and is something of an Austrian hero. Wonderful black and white photos bedeck the walls, recalling that era and  sport of skiing at that time. 
The rooms are beautifully simple and elegant, each with a balcony reflecting the lovely views over Kitzbuhel, the beds very comfortable and the bathrooms relatively spacious. The shower was on a hand held clip which was a little low, but it was easy to hold it when showering.
The breakfasts were amazing - many different types of home baked bread and rolls, bircher muesli with every topping conceivable and a large variety of jams, honeys and yoghurts. In addition, eggs and bacon were produced on request.
The sitting room is lovely, with large windows to set off the views down to Kitzbuhel and a sofa in front of the fire which was a lovely spot to relax by in the afternoon. A very tiny criticism was that tea (with many different types of tea provided) was accompanied by packet biscuits rather than cake, but that is just a greedy quibble! 
The location of Pension Hinterseer is unbeatable. It's possible to ski in and out most of the time and it's only a very short run to the main gondola in Kitzbuhel. Being out of the central village makes it peaceful and atmospheric but the walk into the centre is short (uphill on the way back, all the better to burn off some of the delicious Austrian food!)
This place is a complete gem: authentic, well maintained, ideal location and homely. We will definitely be returning next year.

Outstanding accomodation

My son and I spent four nights at this wonderful guest house. It is a ski in ski out location and a short walk to the center of town. There are only 12 rooms, very clean and each with ample space and a large private bath. They have all you need from a sauna to boot warmers. The morning breakfast was great and there are kitchen priveleges including an honor bar. Each room has a large balcony with great views of the moutnian and surrounding area. For what you get, very reasonably priced. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Hit all our expectations

We stayed here during our town to town hike (the KAT walk). Very comfortable guesthouse a few minutes walk from the old section of town. We actually preferred this location to that of the hotels directly in the center. Modern yet cozy room with fabulous balcony overlooking town and Kitzbuehler Horn. Gondola passes overhead nearby. Bathroom was modern and well equipped. There was an internal door to the bedroom from the entry area. Very quiet. Ample storage. Quality furniture. Pension is filled with ski photos and trophies. The owners are a well known ski family (of Olympic standing). Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. Eggs any way are also offered. Lovely terrace to enjoy. A pleasure to be a guest, so much so that we extended our stay an extra night.

Leo's Landhaeusl was recommended to us for dinner. Great local food and atmosphere. The hotel serves breakfast only.  

There is no shortage of things to do here. Really good outdoor activities. Better quality stores, even the tourist ones.

We love the fact that this is a ski-in, ski-out location and don't mind the short walk into town in the evening with our normal boots. 
The rooms are great: good beds, seating area, lots of wardrobe space and a private hallway for your boots and coats. Rooms have view over the mountains and valley with a small private terrace. 

The interior is tasteful and also shows the family ski heritage. 

Breakfast is extensive with large choice of fresh produce and eggs are made to order. When you come back from skiing, you can help yourself to cake and tea in the large communal room. 
There is also an 'honesty fridge' with variety of drinks at very reasonable prices. 

Guido and Kerstin always make us feel at home and do whatever they can to give us a great holiday: restaurant suggestions and reservations, ski tips and leisure tips on days we don't ski. 

We also love the fact that we are not obliged to book Saturday to Saturday but can visit those dates that suits us best. 
Whenever we have skied on the day of departure, we have been able to shower in the sauna area before starting our journey. 

All the above makes us come back year after year - like most of the other guests! 

Fantastic stay

Excellent breakfast with free choice of eggs. Rooms spacy,  clean and with balcony facing sunny side. Very close to hahnekammrennen. The pensions also has a living room where you can drink beer, schnaps and enjoy local specialties at a normal price.
